Lakers interested in Hawes, Young, Hinrich, Humphries, etc?

Post#1 » by WCDYNASTY » Thu Jun 28, 2012 9:10 pm

With the Lakers holding only the 60th pick in the draft, much of the talk surrounding the team has had to do with Pau Gasol. Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio hears much more from L.A. and shares it along with a number of tidbits from around the Association. A source tells Amico the Lakers will look to dump salary this offseason and sign Spencer Hawes, Nick Young, Kirk Hinrich and Kris Humphries. The Lakers may also look into trading for Jordan Crawford if the Wizards draft Bradley Beal tonight. Here's more from Amico:

* The Lakers are shopping Pau Gasol aggressively, but he's more likely to be dealt during the free agency period than before or during tonight's draft.

* Interest is low in Metta World Peace, and the Lakers no longer think they can get a late first round pick for him.

*Grizzlies guard O.J. Mayo could be a free agent target for the Lakers and the Celtics.

Back to the Lakers. One source insists they’ll stand pat during the draft, dump some salary later, and land a free agent next month. The source mentioned center Spencer Hawes (76ers), shooting guard Nick Young (Clippers), point guard Kirk Hinrich (Hawks) and power forward Kris Humphries (Nets), as possible targets. “They seem to be figuring out what to with Gasol first,” said a source. If not, a deal between the Warriors and Cavs could happen, he added.

Off all the players mentioned here I like Humphries and Mayo, the rest I personally don't care for at all.

OJ Mayo is an RFA and he wont end up here, Kirk Hinrich is done, Kris Humphries will get the MLE from somewhere, rest are scrubs.

spencer hawes isn't a scrub. he had a very good yr last season and will probably demand at least the mle, if not more.

nick young i'm guessing gets 4-5 mil from someone.

agree with hinrich though.

Hawes isn't a scrub. He's hurt but not a scrub.

I didn't even see Spencer Hawes. He's serviceable and greatly benefits from it being difficult to find decent centers in today's game, but I doubt he gets more than the MLE. Definitely nothing to get bent out of shape over.

I see Phila re-signing him though.

I think Young can be had for the mini mle especially from the Lakers or Clippers because he is from LA and seems to love being back here. A cheaper alternative to Young could be Green.

I agree on that. I'd like to have him here but he can get better playing time. I think L.A. has a good shot at that late first to fill out one depth spot, then the FA stuff will sort out.

I would like Nick Young for the MMLE. We need an athletic guard who can back up Kobe and if he warrants more minutes, and he would, then Kobe can play more at the three and post up a little more.

spencer hawes did have a good season, but only when he wasnt crippled with injury. if i remember correctly, phili wasnt able to play him more than 20 minutes every other game. if his injuries are subdued this offseason, he'd be an interesting pick up. granted, phili doesnt resign him, which it looks like they will

nick young would be a nice 6th man for la getting 25+ minutes a game

jordan crawford is an undersized, low eff chucker. we already have a 6'6'' chucker with better eff than him, so id pass

if humphries was willing to take the lakers laughable offer, he'd be a nice signing. 100% effort player who can possibly average a double double with us

hinrich is hinrich. every season his name is mixed in with laker rumors. hes been slowly regressing since his bulls day, but his defense at both the 1 and 2 spot could be beneficial to la

im one of the few people that still believe oj mayo can make a huge imact with a change of scenery. is la that place? not sure, but i wouldnt mind the lakers taking a chance on him

I'm not too keen on Humphries, but he'd be a decent signing, I really like what Hawes brings though especially after an off-season recovering.

If you're the Lakers, you pick up Humphries for the Kardashian blow-back alone...

Then you reverse course and do everything humanly possible, including trading Bynum to Dallas to get LO back on the team...

Yes! You'd have Kardashian-Humphries, Odom-Kardashian, and Johnson-Odom. Do it Mitch!
And we know the Kardashians like NBA johnsons 8-)
