If the Lakers do stand pat with Gasol-Bynum what are a few moves you guys could see down the line:
1- Clearly salary is a concern
2- Mitch never leaves wasted money (Blake) alone
3- He hates first round salaries
4- He uses the MLE
5- He prefers to avoid adding extra salary

Some ideas:

- McRoberts for Dorell Wright
- Try to move Blake+1 for Jarret Jack
- Beasley for Hill S and T

I love a great trade idea as much as anyone, and you have some well thought out ideas, however as a counter point, couldn't the Lakers trade McRoberts for a second round pick with no salary coming back.

That's 6 million saved alone just by unloading McRoberts for a pick.

That's 6 million available for the Lakers to actually sign a good value/dollar-for-dollar player.

For example, you could get Shelden Williams for the minimum and he could do what McRoberts does as fifth bigman for less than half the price.

Also, I know you use rhe word "try" so you're really just brainstorming, but there's no way New Orleans gives up Jack for a first rounder and and an extra year (than Jack) of Blake.

From the New Orleans side of things, Steve Blake, although I could see him having chemistry with Austin Rivers (but not Gordon), I look at him as a definite downgrade over what Jarret Jack can offer.

The difference in Jack and Blake's value is not worth the extra 4 million you're asking New Orleans to eat and the first rounder. In essence, because of the sheer worthlessness of Blake, you're asking New Orleans to essentially buy a first round pick from the Lakers for 4 million dollars, while also giving up a solid NBA "big PG" on a fantastic expiriing deal.

You wouldn't make that deal for New Orleans if you were the one running the show down in New Orleans, now would you?

Now the Beasley deal is more than reasonable, but if you rehash what has already been reported might as well propose how much Beasley is worth.

To me the size and value of a Beasley deal is what's most important,

That Minnesota deal is definitely one option for dropping into a more favorable salary situation.
