Lakers interested in Dragic?

Post#1 » by Levity » Mon Jul 2, 2012 5:09 pm

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/w ... z1zT0m3yxa

dont know how reliable the source is, or how likely any of this comes to fruition, but according to the source, lakers are interested in acquiring dragic. i would imagine it would have to be a s&t since dragic would be commanding more money than the lakers could offer in free agency.
is he worth the pick up? yes. he played outstanding ever since lowry went out at the allstar break. can easily average 15+ 7+ for the lakers as the starting pg, all while playing pestering D. im not sure what sort of package we'd get back, but im sure on our end of it, we'd have to include pau.

anyone interested?

this is the gist of the rumor. doesn't mean much.

A source close to free-agent point guard Goran Dragic said the Raptors, Suns, Nets, Hornets, Lakers and Rockets have all expressed interest.

he cool and all, but its a couple of PG I would like to get besides him. Hell, I'd rather have Sessions back before him. He's a bit streaky to me.

:o :o

You'd rather have Sessions before Dragic? Are you kidding me?

Haven't we seen enough of Sessions to know that he doesn't fit with the team on offense and can't defend anyone on defense? Sessions isn't going to get better. He is what he is at this point.

Dragic, on the other hand, is a much better shooter (.570 TS%) and fits better with the current Lakers team.

Although Dragic is 25, he's seems to improve with age.

if it was entirely for the cost, then yes sesssions before dragic. but if the lakers were willing to spend, dragic is greater than sessions in every category except maybe penetrating and passing which i would say they are equal at.

I think the jury is still out on Sessions... We only had the last part of the regular season and the playoffs (his first appearance) to evaluate his performance. However, there are a few other PGs I'd like to see on the Lakers instead of him though - and Dragic is one of them!

I think I've seen enough. Sessions is a drive and kick PG. We don't have shooters for him to kick to. We are a post up team so we actually need him to shoot.

Maybe I havent seen enough games to grade Dragic but I have only seen him take over 2 games last yr. And he was with that team the entire season. He's no factor most games I have seen. He wasnt even the best PG on HIS own team.

Dragic was very good. After Lowry went down, they didn't miss much.

when lowry went out with that infection for 3 months, dragic averaged something like 18 and 9, basically identical to lowrys numbers. he also brought that effort every game. they were play off bound, until they obviously started tanking the last few weeks to get into the lottery. dragic and lowry are = in terms of best pg on that team. thats why houston has been shopping lowry around lately. dragic wants to start, and houston wants to keep him

These rumors are all so silly. Any of us could spread a rumor based off "sources".

A source close to Dwight recently told me a Bynum for Howard swap is in the works and should be completed by Wednesday.

Is Dragic better option than Sessions yes is he a better option at potentially 8-9 million a year vs 4-5 for Sessions probably not.

Available PG List is as probably follows:

1. Deron
2. Nash
3. Lowrly
4. Lin
5. Harris
6. Dragic
7. Kidd
8. Felton
9. Sessions
10. Flynn
11. Calderon
12. CJ

I personally really like Devin Harris as he is 6'3" with a quick first step, decent range and something to prove...

He did put up 18 and 9 in Lowry's absense. PHX was dumb for trading him in the first place for Aaron Brooks. This dude was well on his way to being the heir to Steve Nash. Im suprised alot of Laker fans dont remember the good games he had against us in the WCF in 2010.

My sense of Dragic is that he's a career backup... But maybe I'm wrong. He's 26 though and Sessions detractors all say that at that age what you see is what you get...

I'd like us to aim a little higher personally.

This... I really believe good free agents will be signed elsewhere for more money than we can offer. I think it is a really good chance we stand pat and bring back the same team with a couple of cheap vets to fill out the roster. If we can't bring Sessions back, I really wouldn't mind bringing Farmar back. We are screwed with Kobe's contract and have nothing to trade.

Sorry for the grim outlook fellas

like sessions before he arrived in la, dragic was a back up because he was playing behind a franchise pg (nash then more recently lowry) Once he had the ability to start, he quickly proved hes a starting caliber pg in this league. Sure, plenty of players put up good numbers in a few starts here and there IE bayless; but dragic put up those numbers consistently since the all star break up until his season ended (even with lowry back in the line up, though he played a diminished role because of being out of shape.)

dragic is a starting pg in this league. he knows it too, which is why he wants out of houston if they dont make him the starter.
