Lakers no longer pursuing Sessions

Post#1 » by snaquille oatmeal » Thu Jul 5, 2012 5:26 am

The Lakers are no longer interested in retaining Ramon Sessions, who was seeking a multi-year deal after opting out of the final $4.55 million of his contract to become an unrestricted free agent.

Sessions was acquired last March at the trade deadline and averaged 12.7 points and 6.2 assists in the regular season.

Sessions struggled in the playoffs, however, averaging 6.8 points on 35.3 percent shooting in the Lakers’ Western Conference semifinal loss to the Thunder.

Hopefully this is just a move to pressure Sessions into taking a cheaper deal than he and his agent are pushing for from the Lakers. Keeping Sessions here and amnestying Blake would be our best bet if Ramon doesn't find a much better offer.

I said it then and I'll say it now.......he joins Ariza, Bonzi Wells and others who have F themselves. To bad Ramon could've had a decent career here, he'll never be a starter anywhere else.

Orlando, Dallas, Toronto, Utah, possibly Indiana.

I can't think of anymore.

Sessions' agent should be fired, because it was so stupid for Ramon to opt out after a terrible playoffs. Overestimated his value, and I doubt Ramon will get an opportunity as big as starting for the Lakers.

Thank goodness we don't have to worry about Ramon keeping his stuff together in the playoffs next year.

I have a feeling he'll cave and sign a smaller deal with the Lakers. A solid back up to Nash (never thought i'd say this).

when will players learn that they end up screwing themselves by not signing with the lakers, he'd probably be a 6th man of the year candidate next year but he will end up signing a deal of similar size with a much worse team.

Bundling Sessions with Ariza/Farmar/Brown is not fair. Sessions is the only one of the bunch that can actually play.

I still remember how bad Kobe started his first playoff series.
I remember airballs, I remember heads down in shame.

Sessions is young and has decent upside.

I'm torn that we're letting go of him. But you don't pass up a chance to start a future hall of famer getting 10.7 assist on a terrible team. Just imagine his #s on the Lakers.

And Sessions still needs to learn pick and roll defense better. How does an NBA calibre point guard not understand when to go over, go under, or trap? Sagging on shooters.. smh

The difference between sessions and ariza/brown/farmar is that the latter have rings because of their instrumental work in the playoffs... we wouldnt have won without those guys.

sessions on the other hand disappeared... but i would love to take his contract and drop steve blake from the team. sessions would be great working under nash and learning how to be a better point guard.

blake has already peaked.

dah well... maybe miami will pick him up as a back up pg... but i honestly can't see him in high demand anywhere.

And the list grows. About the only one you can't blame is Ronny, it was very possible he'd never see that type of dough Golden St showed him ever again.

Sessions would thrive learning from the best. Just like Harden would become unstoppable if backed up Kobe. Lakers should do themselves a favor and get a young PG and SG to learn from these MVPs.

People still **** on Sessions I see... I'd much prefer him over Steve Blake with the 2nd unit. Plus Nash can mentor him.

I dont think they are ****ing on him. They were saying the same thing you are. Sessions would be really good if he learned from Nash and Kobe. NOBODY wants Blake as the back up! Poor Blake.
