Amnesty Target: MWP or Blake?

If I were to choose to amnesty one of them, it would definitely be Blake. MWP, although I don't think he can continue to start, has toughness and defensive acumen that is still valuable in terms of dealing with the top offensive opposing wings. Blake on the other hand has next to no redeemable qualities.

Can't we just amnesty both? I like that option much better.

Maybe see if a team will trade their unused clause for McRoberts or something. There's gotta be a way.

I'm sure Mitch will get them traded along with first round picks in 2025 and beyond before we even think about amnesty.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there is only one amnesty provision allowed per year.

Blake probably has more value around the league, but as much as i think MWP is basically useless, he finds a way to be indispensable at certain times... But then again, Ebanks played pretty well on D when it counted too...

So right now, before the season starts, I'd say Blake is the primary Amnesty target... But if we get a starter like Hill and Ebanks can step it up, MWP might get the honors...

Useless starting Small Forward vs useless back up point guard.

Either choice is good, i wouldn't amnesty Metta until we get Grant Hill or if we have to, trade Pau for a starting SF, Blake is my first choice.

Unbelievable! people still don't see the value of having a MWP on our team. I'm sure some would rather have second round picks than MWP. SMH at the blindness.

He's good at scaring people making them think he's crazy because he's got doctors saying he is crazy.

MWP's value is very contextual, unfortunately. Against 90% of teams he is useless, the silver lining is his defensive skillset is very useful against the top tier teams with the top tier wings.

I don't understand all this hate for metta at times. I still find him extremely valuable to this team.
Don't have enough confidence in ebanks to just give up metta right now

and most of the team that we have to get past on a way to a championship will most likely have top tier wings. we need him for games/series against teams like these

MWP bring so much more to this team than Blake does.

Its going to be neither. With the Nash signing, they're riding this current horse to the finish line. Not getting younger. It'll be Nash/Blake and MWP/GHill for the the next two yrs at PG & SF. Get used to it.

That used to be more true than it is now... LeBron, Durant, Harden have all pretty much figured him out... He now is most effective against stretch 4's... But I agree, there are certain situations where he just shines... And he comes up big in the Playoffs...
Unfortunately, each year there are fewer and fewer of those situations...

And if he comes in out of shape again, he'll be pretty much worthless until after the All Star Break.

Let the overrating of Metta's defense commence!

It is overrated, but he fills a void that every championship team needs, defensive wing stopper. If we get rid of MWP, we will need a suitable replacement for that role.

I think there are still teams who would want Steve Blake at least for a backup.
