Mike Trudell @LakersReporter
* @MettaWorldPeace is in outstanding shape; light years ahead of last offseason when injuries plagued him during lockout.

World Peace is working out at the team’s facility today; told me he’s focusing on trimming any body fat. Has explosion/quickness back.

I hope MWP retires with the Lakers... hopefully he won't be needed for potential D12 deal.

I want him to change his name back to Artest though. What happened with that, didn't he say he wished he had never changed his name after the fact?

Agree, Metta is huge for our championship aspirations until we find a suitable SF replacement to make Durant and Lebron work hard for their points(impossible to stop either these days).
This isn't a lockout offseason, MWP will start the season in shape and hopefully as healthy as he ended it.

MWP aint going anywhere ppl. When MWP was suspended for his Harden elbow, Kobe said that he (MWP) was the only person on the Lakers roster he could trust to compete 110%.
Plus this offseason Kobe has had a great dialog with Lakers FO with input and idea's on roster changes. I highly doubt that MWP is going anywhere anytime soon.

MWP will look like Kobe Bryant with Steve Nash on his side.

We actually need a defensive specialist on the perimeter to defend the premier wing players. Kobe's at a point where he can no longer carry the load offensively and defensively for extended periods of time.

The Magic consistently fielded top 10+ defenses in the league with the likes of Jameer Nelson, Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu, Rafer Alston, etc. etc guarding the perimeter. I think you overrate how much perimeter defense matters and underrate just how significant Dwight Howard's defense impacts a game.

I've never understood the desire by some on this board to want to trade MWP. Never understood it, and I hope Artest finishes his career as a Laker.

the guy simply gives the best interviews. dude should make regular appearances on nba shows when he retires. you know he'll bring the ratings. perhaps make appearances on the more laid-back sets like TNT's "inside the nba" with shaq, chuck and co, or maybe visit espn and b*tchslap skip bayless (my personal hero) across the table every once in a while

for as crappy as he was most of last season by seasons end he was one of our best contributors and you could see he have lift again. Remember the elbow game he was abusing those guys with hand speed and dunks like a boss before abusing them with elbow physics. If he comes back with the eye of the tiger I want him around still
