I don't know if this will get locked or not but I'm tired of updating twitter, realgm, hoopshype, hoopsworld, rotoworld, and espn to see whats new on the Dwight Howard trade. But anyways I'm been thinking of free agents id like to see Lakers get and I'm curious what other guys people like. The game part is I want replies from people to give me a free agent name and reason why you want the lakers to get them but they cannot be linked to any rumors so no Raja Bell, Grant Hill, Brandon Rush etc. Ill go first.....

Terrance Williams- still young and very explosive playmaker would be the athletic wing the Lakers are looking for and would be killer on the fast break with Nash.

Ramon Sessions - still young, have his bird rights, would be such a sweet backup to nash and could learn to play under control from nash. get him at a decent price, and pg is set.

I have really wanted Delonte West for a long time. I hope he can be signed; I actually will be more excited over him coming over to us than Dwight himself.

He can be a great explosive bench guy and a replacement for gritty players that lost their grit like Matt Barnes, whom I still like very much.

Like mentioned above, delonte west. Can run some point as time, or can serve as our backup two guard. Could be a good punch to have off the bench.

Also Gerald Green, although i dont know how much he can be had for after his season with the nets.
Good replacement for matt barnes. Can run, shoot and is in his mid-late 20s. Haven't really been any rumors on him on where he might go, but an announcer during the bk-celtics game today said that there was interest from the bulls.

I love this if the Lakers don't do the Howard deal. I know that he wants to start, but if we don't do the Howard deal, and therefore don't end up with JRich, we can offer Sessions "starter type" minutes in a 6th man role. We can offer him 16 mpg as Nash's back up, and then we can offer him 14 mpg behind Kobe. He wouldn't get to start, but he could get 30 mpg, and a chance to learn from Nash for the next 3 years while still playing around 30 mpg before taking the coveted position as starting PG for the Lakers.

People seem to only remembeer how poorly he shot in the playoffs, but he shot 42% for the Cavs, and 49% for the Lakers, not from the field, but from 3 point range! Yet it seems that everybody ignores those 41 games for the Cavs, and 23 games for the Lakers in the regular season, and only remember his 12 games in the playoffs where he shot an abyssmal 16% from 3 point range. Why dismiss 64 games as a fluke, and say that the 12 games were the real Sessions? Can we allow that he just had a bad shooting slump, possibly because of nerves in his first playoffs? Do we know that he will always choke in the playoffs? I am tired of Sessions being dismissed as junk just because he had a bad 12 game stretch while being shackled in an offense that didn't lend to his strengths. Yes it was horrible timing, but it may never happen again. If we can find 25-32 MPG for Sessions we should do whatever it takes to bring him back, playing in an offense designed to help Nash succeed, the very worst case scenario I could see is Sessions struggles at SG, but excels enough at PG that he doesn't justify his contract for the Lakers, but is a valuable trade piece due to what other teams see from him in his PG minutes.

Filling out roster, remaining free agents

So what's left out there? There seems like there are some decent names available and the money is drying up. There are some guys that could be worth a gamble as well. What do you think? Does anyone know if we re-sign JHill do we still have the MMLE?

Any big trade aside our starters a pretty much set for now

Nash/Kobe/MWP/Pau/Drew

which leaves our bench with some young, undersized, and/or crappy guards and SFs and a big guy. As in single big man...

So our biggest pressing need is more bigs and then a nice scoring combo guard would be nice. I'm hoping eBanks continues the growth, this is about the time Ariza started getting his shooting touch so hopefully he can extend that range out just a bit. It would be nice to have someone that could really spell Kobe some good minutes as I don't know if Goudelock or Odom are the answers yet. Our bench still pretty much sucks, so what are we gonna do?

Oops, early submit button. Anyway, can we for a list of who/what is still available?

Jamison would be a really nice pickup, hope he takes the chance. G Hill retiring?

I really hope we resign J Hill. That is a nice big rotation with just Drew/Pau/Hill but would need more for the regular season and preferably a strech 4 that can play with Nash. Other options? What about risky fliers on either unproven guys or old/injured vets?

Arenas? TMac? Both seemed decent in limited mins and could be nice compliments with the talent we have

Oden? Worth a minimum chance? Nash could bring secrets of the PHX med staff!
Claim Darko? Nice backup imo

Nash/Blake/Morris
Kobe/Glock/Odom
MWP/Ebanks/Eyenga
Pau/McBob
Drew

12 spots so 3 more guys?

C. Miles, J. Hill, and Jamison would be really nice to me.

a McBob for Rush swap would be sweet but I doubt that happens. Then I'd take a flier on Oden or pickup Mohammed or Haddidi

Bring Barnes back? use MWP as a stretch 4?

Kenyon Martin? Nice defender, tough

Anthony Tolliver? Nice stretch 4 for the bench

Peitrus? Prolly gets resigned for more $. Miles? Prolly same thing. Delfino?

Still some nice guards out there that may be forced to take a min deal

Bellinelli, Meeks, Lee, Foye, Barbosa...

Not enough room in the roster for Sessions. Besides, Sessions wants to find a starting position and doubt he would be willing to wait 2 years behind Nash. Sign and trade him to Houston for a sign and trade Courtney Lee would be a good deal.

Sessions isn't happening. Although I think we could possibly S&T him for maybe a second round pick or a cheap bigman or something.

Basically as far as I understand we have only the MMLE at around 3.2 mil? Which can be split. Then Vet mins.
I still don't know if re-signing Hill would use the MMLE or not.

Basically 3 roster spots left. Would be nice if we could move Eyenga or McBob for other pieces. I'm ok with Blake in limited mins. Nash should play like 30 so I'm fine with Blake for very short stints, he should be able to knock down shots and play pesky D for short stretches. I think we really need a guy like Miles or Rush that could play either 2 or 3 and knock down shots and create a little bit of offense. Then a couple bigs.

Sign and trade Sessions for Wes Johnson? Could play the SF...just a thought. Marco would be a nice pickup as well.

Pass on Darko. Kahn amnestied him and Darko's had plenty of chances in this league.

McBob might play well with Nash. We'll be calling him McLob again in no time.

I like to resign Hill as long as his legal problems are behind him. Not sure where that's going.

Grant Hill would be a great addition.

If Antawn Jamison still has a shoot in him, would be a good stretch four to sub in for Gasol and/or Bynum.

I'm hoping we get Hill for a year or two, but even so our bench scoring would be pathetic:

Blake/Goudelock/Ebanks/McRoberts/Hill....

Looks worse than last year and that's factoring in Ebanks improving.

Bottom line: we need big men. And we need scoring and playmaking: Jamison to me seems better. Plus we have Sacre who could carry the garbageman mantle.

So, IMO maybe Jamison/Sacre will fill more needs than Jordan Hill? To me, Hill makes our lineup better when mixed with a few starters, but if we want a straight bench rotation, we need more firepower.

Perhaps add a shooter like Jodie Meeks for the minimum and hope one of those young guards steps up?

Also, anyone know where Caracter is at these days?

Hurt last season then waived. Doubt he'll come back.

Why isnt anyone talking about Delonte West? Anyone got any key reasons why we wouldnt want him or the Lakers FO?

I say Mitch is too big for this dwight drama and just move on and make some key moves with bynum.

This is why I actually kind of want the Dwight trade to go down with a couple assets coming back like J Rich.

our bench looks craptastic the more I look at it. Although hopefully Morris/Glock/and Ebanks all improve. I got a chance to see Morris practice, his shot looks nice now, he's got potential.

one of Lee, Rush or Miles would be a really nice addition, or maybe Barbosa, but all will likely get some more deals.

He's a knucklehead. Also, he played for Coach Potato Head before. Would think he would have told Mitch something to convince him to get him.

He'd be an excellent addition, no doubt. I don't know if he's the answer to our play-making problems, but he's a smart player who defends well and keeps his composure under pressure.

A little bit of a headcase though, but I haven't heard of anything negative since the "shotgun" incident.

Overall I think our biggest need is for a creator off the bench. Sessions would have filled that roll perfectly but he doesn't want a reserve gig and I doubt we'd pay him much anyway. His play-making ability made a world of difference last year when he joined the team so the #1 priority is to see if we can get someone that can create behind Nash.
