Mitch offered Bynum to HOU
According to the Rockets Board:
"So according to 610 radio, Morey nixed a deal on draft consisting of Lowry & Scola + our 3 firsts for Bynum?"
Thoughts?

It may have happened but it was either Pau or they got the roles reversed.

Re: Mitch offered Bynum to HOU
Sounds like a good deal to me tbh. Bynum's not a winner. So much young talent that wants to win and will actually try and push the likes of Devin Ebanks. Lowry is >> Nash if we remove Bynum (speed it up) and Scola is a great PF for Pau's "C".

In the sense you're rating him, Lowry is definitely overrated. Even at 38 I'm taking Nash over Lowry by a very healthy margin. Lowry is nowhere near the playmaker and shooter that Nash is, and is really only better than Nash on defense. Nash does everything else that much better than Lowry that you can just overlook the defensive deficiency.
Putting Scola next to Pau would be putting together the softest front court in the league by far, even softer than Brooklyn's soon to be front court. Of course the offensive prowess is there, but defensively those two together would get absolutely obliterated.

Thank you destro. Alot of people were hot after Lowry because of how his season started. I think he was putting up 16/7/7 or something. Im just not going to be sold on a guy that has been average for 4 years and all of sudden in a 15-20 game stretch or so he is doing well.

Re: Mitch offered Bynum to HOU
I don't care if we win I just want the ball to be pretty, although I guess Nash is the best for that situation. Bynum demanding the ball is why Hill won't be resigned and we won't see McBob throwing down half court alley oops.

Well that's the first time I've ever heard of someone wanting pretty ball over a championship.

Re: Mitch offered Bynum to HOU
good. i am fine with that decline. I do not see any superstars to build around with 3 scattered first round picks, lowry or scola. Lowry is very good (esp for fantasy) but not on a winning basketball team.

We can't win a championship unless Bynum grows up, but we're not getting equal return unless it's a 3 team Howard trade. So why not go for the next best thing? Semi-Finals to Conf Finals teams that do more than pass the ball to Kobe?

Well it's not like we're vying for a lottery pick either, so I don't see what the gripe is. May as well try to contend.

It was a good deal but Bynum is not a winner? Come on man way over the top. Bynum is childish is hell but he does come to play in playoff time.

Re: Mitch offered Bynum to HOU
What the hell are you on Gek ? Pretty ball ? And who the hell cares about McRoberts getting lobs ? Lob ain't winning us no titles, no games for that matter. You are severely demeaning Drew simply because you don't like him. It's pretty damn obvious what the man can do if given touches and NOT BEING FORGOTTEN ABOUT in the scheme of things. You can morph Hill and Josh into one and they still don't have the skill level of Drew.Gek wrote:I don't care if we win I just want the ball to be pretty, although I guess Nash is the best for that situation. I wish I would have seen this one first. See this is just dumb talk. Straight up dumb! HELLO McFLY, HELLLOOO! Hill is a bench player that knows his "roll" honestly Bynum should be calling for the ball, its his time now per Mike Brown. He's the #1 option in the post.
Who gives a flying Fart about McRoberts? So pretty plays & losses are ok? Sounds like you're not a winner to me.

Re: Mitch offered Bynum to HOU
The only reason I see him making that offer is that's what Orlando was wanting more for Dwight. Especially in light of the recent 3 way's thrown around I'm guessing that's what it was for. And this is pre-Nash.

Re: Mitch offered Bynum to HOU
We are in win now mode.
2 seasons left until the luxury tax can go up to 4 times the current luxury tax. Also Kobe's age.
Trading Bynum now would be ridiculous unless the Lakers wanted to blow it up and start over. Thunder didn't shatter our swag that much.

Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

AB is not worth that many players and picks. Those could be sent to the magic for howard.

Re: Mitch offered Bynum to HOU
Now that I know how the draft went, I wish Houston would have said yes and then make it a 3 way deal.
Bynum for Amir Johnson #8, #12, #18, and newly created $9.4 million Bynum TPE
Rockets get Bynum
Raptors get Lowry, Scola, #16
Draft Drummond at 8, Lamb at 12, and Sullinger at 18
Then still do the Nash deal.
Our payroll would then be reduced enough that Buss would hopefully have ok'd using the amnesty on Blake if Sessions was willing to return to learn behind Nash. Assuming that Sessions wanted to return, we would have had the following:
Nash (32) / Sessions (16) / Morris (depth)
Bryant (34) / Lamb (14) / Sessions (depth)
MWP (30) / Ebanks (18)
Johnson (24) / Sullinger (24)
Gasol (34) / Drummond (14)
and we would still have a $9.4 million TPE good for quite a while.
So we would basically exchange Bynum and Blake for Andre Drummond, Jeremy Lamb, Jared Sullinger, Amir Johnson, Ramon Sessions, and a $9.4 million TPE. That would certainly secure our future, and give us the depth that we all desire. The only downside that I see is it would have removed us from the Dwight sweepstakes, as we would have the assets, but not the ability to match his salary.
