Any chance we could pick one of them up on the cheap?

Scola would be a nice backup center/power forward. I 'd love to see Bynum moved though.

I dont like Darko , he had his moments with the Wolves but didnt really pan out and I think never will. Haywood is good but right now I want some Action on the pieces we need not just redundant movement in the frontcourt dept.

lakers havve no money to pick up the rest of their contract unless no teams pick them up off the waiver

Lakers would have to win the bid first, assuming other teams do try to bid.

Lakers can't bid.
They're not under the cap.
Have to hope NO teams bid, which is unlikely because at least one under the cap team will bid 854k or whatever the new vet min subsidy is. LA is screwed.
Wouldn't be able to try and get him until after all that, and then only have small potatoes to offer.
Basically no amnestied decent player will make it to LA.

This is why guys need to stop asking who can come here every time a player is amnestied. The process is just too difficult for teams over the cap.

Scola is injured. Hopefully teams under the cap will pass on him like teams passed on Baron Davis.

Well all the players who are getting the amistry will not all find teams under the cap, so manybe one of them will fall thru and the Lakers can pick them up on the cheap.

Because of the way Scola's contract is structured, any team that claims him off waivers will need to pay him 3 years 10m which is the guaranteed amount on his contract.. Chances are pretty good that he could clear waivers.. Hopefully we try to snag him with the minimum..

We can't get any of the decent players amnestied....teams with cap space eat first, they get to bid for their services even with an abysmal sum of money

So these threads about players who have been amnestied that keep popping up lately are rather pointless

Wish Kobe was not making 25-30 million per year. Same with Pau, if Lakers had some of that money. Lakers could sign some better bench players. Until these contracts are off the books. Bench will be castoffs and low second round picks.

Darko cleared waivers, but I don't want him anywhere near the Lakers.
