wow, bad shots after bad shots coming from Kobe.

First, the "2012 team is better than the Dream Team" comment.

And now this. Against Stern too! :o

What's next, him telling D-Ho that he can be his Tyson Chandler??

Don't see the problem with this. You guys are dramatic

Stern has to care about his NBA players, employees, moneymakers first before he cares for the USA national team. And not all NBA players play for the US and not all NBA teams are in the US. So he's gonna want them to rest more over the summer instead of risking injury.

I believe he didn't even vote for NBA players to be allowed to play in 92

psh, if he's taking that stance then he might as well let no nba player in

just letting the young kids in is putting them in just as much risk as the ones older than 23

should be either all or none, setting a specific age is dumb

Everything he's been saying has been getting blown up by the media lately lol. but no seriously, as soon as i heard him say that my first thought was *oh damn, stern's gunna make sure kobe doesn't win another ring*. lol so i expect refs to not give kobe any calls

Stern wants to set the olympics age limit to 23, but change the min age for nba limit to 23 also? Does this mean only NBA players who haven't played a single NBA game could do the olympic? LOL

I think its a stupid idea....pretty much all of the best players in the world are over 23 and the whole point of the olympics is to see best in the world compete for the gold medal and if none of the best are there.....whats the point?....

You're not getting it. Lebron's value is literally hundreds of millions in revenue to Miami and the NBA. What if he has a career ending injury playing in the Olympics?

That's Stern's point. Not that I agree with it or anything but I can see why the NBA doesn't like it when their best players are risking injury while ONLY NBC makes money.

A lot of things can happen. Injuries to marquee players like Lebron, Kobe, Griffin, CP3, Love, Durant, etc. The team owners are footing the bill, not NBC. Plane crash? Terrorist attacks? Very unlikely to happen but you have to factor in the risk. If the entire roster goes down in a plane crash or terrorist attack or any unforeseen disaster, say good bye to the NBA.

The NBA is literally, no exaggerating, putting billions worth of money in the roster that they send to the Olympics.

Athletes like to think that they should have a choice because they are guaranteed the money. The owners pay that money even if the player injures himself in the Olympics.

that's the risk he's taking then, its his choice to play in the olympics no one is making anyone play

no different than playing a pick up game at home, or during practice or heck during a regular season game. why doesn't stern just ban actually playing the game altogether so then no one gets hurt

then we can just play the games on paper and get the season done in a month

Yea of course it's his choice. You think he would have picked the Olympics if he knew all of his contracts, including endorsements and NBA salary are non-guaranteed? Hell no.

From a players standpoint, I'd say yes to every Olympics because my contract is guaranteed. If I get hurt, I'll just sit at home and collect my $100 million.

Bottom line is, NBC is making millions off of NBA players through TV & internet coverage but none of the risks. The NBA and its owners are carrying all of the risks. The biggest stars are all on the team. If I'm David Stern, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night right now knowing that all my stars are playing for free in an environment that the NBA has no control over.

The NBA is a business - not a patriotic organization. Even if team USA wins the gold, it doesn't actually make the world a better place. The only thing it does is give millions of dumb Americans an even bigger ego.

Let me ask you a question: Have you been to college and taken a business/economics class?

I think we all get why Stern wants this age limit but if you think about it as a fan of basketball its going to be alot less exiting to watch if everyone is 23 or younger, think about all the players that wouldnt get a chance to play because they were born in the wrong year, alot of the rookies this year are about 20 maybe a bit older and their never going to get to play in the olympics if they bring this rule in, it just doesn't seem fair...

Yes I get it. I want to see the best play in the Olympics too but I won't be mad if Stern actually forced the under 23 rule. I could understand why he would do that.

It just makes no sense for the NBA to send in a $1 billion roster to the Olympics every 4 years.

If you really want to win then it does make sense.

No it doesn't make sense for the NBA.

You can send in an under 23 team and still win the Olympics. A $1 billion team is overkill. We don't need to blow everyone out by 50 points in every game to win.
