Delonte West and Barbosa

How come people want Jodie Meeks? Am I the only one who thinks Delonte West is the best out there? He's a combo guard, decent shooting ability, can drive to the basket, can play tough defense, another ballhandler to give Nash more rest....plus when Steve Blake is sucking, I much rather have West play over him. Meeks is just a good shooter and nothing else, he won't ever see the floor....he's another Sasha but maybe worse.

A lot of guys have said West. But MB has already coached him, you think he's have told the staff by now....

Barbosa would be nice especially since he played with Nash and he stil scores at a decent clip. Unfortunately he'll probably get a million or two more than we can offer.

Ask Mike Brown....why Delonte is the single most overrated player on this board.

Overrated compared to who? Hes an above avg 3 pt shooter, can score and plays pretty good D on guards. He'd be a great asset off the bench for LA. Can run the point and play the 2 in a small lineup.

If the equation were that simple then why haven't we been linked to him yet? We've heard just about ever other SG already, none of them exactly two-way players. Why not West? This is two off-seasons in a row where we needed a player just as you described. To me that indicates either MB or the FO does not want him on this team or he does not want to play for LA or MB.
Guys are acting as if it's that simple of an equation, it's obviously not.

Im not questioning whether or not the front office or West wants to be in LA. Im challenging ur view of how he is overrated? Compared to who? Saying Melo is a top 5 player is overrating a player. Saying West is a good role player for a contending team isnt overrating him. You're using the term way too loosely.

Point: There have been a plethora of posters who appear to believe that West is exactly what we need. They have made it appear very simple. But, the Lakers have not tried to sign him. Obviously his basketball talents are not worth the overall baggage he brings a team. Thus, those who continue to post frustrations with "am I the only one who likes Delonte West...." are overrating his game over his overall ability to help the team win (at least apparently in the mind of the FO).

You're assuming the Lakers are correct in their decision.
Your premise is that the Lakers have avoided him, on purpose, for two straight offseasons and that "their decision" has merit because "they" made it.
People are wrong all the time. The Lakers are just as capable of making mistakes as the most ardent of sports fans.

This. LA has made questionable trades before. Alot of LA's luck has alot to do with what being here has to offer and winning recently. Remember this is the same FO that traded Caron Butler for Kwame Brown. They make mistakes and they make good deals also. They arent foolproof dude.

They've improved over the years. Good GMs get better.

Best scenario in my opinion
Terrence Williams for MMLE, T-Mac and JO for vet. min.
Nash Kobe MWP Gasol Bynum (Howard)
Blake McGrady Williams Jamison Hill
Morris Goudelock Ebanks Eyenga O'Neal

The next move should be acquiring one of Barbosa, D.West, or Dooling (for the minimum).
Pretty sure Barbosa is the guy if he's willing to take a pay cut.
Keyon Dooling is a decent enough third choice.

Any news about them? I really want Mitch to pick them up. Do you think we can get them for vet minimum?
Nash/West/Blake
Bryant/Barbosa
MWP/Barnes
Pau/Jamison/McRoberts
Bynum/Hill

Couple of things the answer to you question is no also we would have to move Blake to make room. Also Barnes is not coming back so Ebanks takes his place. Also Barbosa rumored messed around with Nash's ex wife so that is no in that department I mean I don't want any problem this year.

I wish they would all go on Maury or Springer or whoever still hosts the baby momma drama so we could acquire the innocent teammate, we really could use the depth.

I would give the MMLE to Delonte, a nice combo guard coming off the bench that can score and has some playmaking abillities too. Better than any guard that we have outside of Kobe and Nash

I'd give west the minunm. Barbosa is liability on defense.
