@AlexKennedyNBA

Lakers continue to express interest in Jodie Meeks. No deal is imminent, but the 2 sides are talking

I hope so

I dont, he's useless outside of a spot up jumpshot. Might as well develop the 2 rookies they have instead. LA would be better off with someone who can after put the ball on the floor and get points multiple ways.

I'm for it. He's basically the best shooter left out of any SGs available at this point outside of maybe Delfino. Sure he's not great but he's basically what Goudelock would be if he was 2 inches taller. lol

I like the idea of adding a specialist at that position. Meeks can help keep the floor spaced for the bigs and our all-star guards to run free. He can get hot quick. Makes more sense to add a guy who can do 1 thing great when he can have an impact on everybody else's strengths rather than a guy like CJ Miles who does everything average. I would have preferred Ronnie Brewer over Miles and Webster too because Brewer's a really good defender. Meeks would be a good pick up. Open shots for a dude who's filled it up from the outside all his life is a good look for LAL.

Dont like it, I dont know too much about this player, but reading the local scout report here (not really detailed; La times) it just says he is nothing more than an ok jump shooting guard.
I want someone more dynamic cmon!

I've heard it through the grapevine..NBA gods have already designated Los Angeles LAKERS as NBA Champions in near future. The destiny is real. TRUST ME.

A specialist would be nice at the 3 or 4 but where is this guy going to get minutes next to another guard? If he's on the 2nd unit he will be running with Steve Blake and will never be in the game with Kobe. The 3 is the only place the team has left for a specialist but even then its better for them to get someone that can do more than just spot up. Id rather go out and get Michael Redd for a vet min than Meeks.

if Goudelock can get better on defense then I would prefer it if we used him instead because he can shoot and he's got that awesome floater that we all love so much :D

You just mix up the rotations to try to have Nash with bench guys. I doubt we're going 5 in and 5 out. Or you sub Kobe in at the 3 for spot minutes.

We had specialists at SF and they didn't get time either, that's how it is. My hope is when we have Bynum with the 2nd unit we're surrounding him with shooters (Jamison and Meeks).

Michael Redd can't shoot anymore, nor can you rely on him to stay healthy. Redd's legs are shot. Meeks is a young body and shooter presently. It doesn't matter who Meeks is in with in the backcourt... the idea is to have a guy like Meeks who can create space for the bigs to work inside. Bigs get doubled on his side, kick out, 3ball. Easy. Just because LAL added Steve Nash doesn't mean they're going away from being a post up team. You have to think about Meek's strength, which is his shooting, and how it's gonna help others. Also, Meeks isn't just a spot up shooter. He can actually create his own shot in the mid-range. Meeks was a scorer that could shoot @ Kentucky. He dropped 50pts on Tennessee. So he's gonna see the most open shots he's ever seen in LA.

Meeks didn't go to College of Charleston. He went to Kentucky and put up big numbers. He should know a little bit about playing under bright lights. Being the #1 option @ Kentucky is pretty good preparation. But he's the best shooter/specialist of the remaining guys, so beggers can't be choosers. Hopefully they give him a shot and dismiss Goudelock.

in my opinion, if u match this guy with nash for 5 minutes, he will give u a 3 pter no doubt. we need shooters. goudlock can't even get himself minutes in summer league. this guy has established himself as a 3 pt specialist already.

dont forget the suns back in the day, nash literally developed 3-4 3 pt specialists during his time there

i dont think he's an amazing player (collins sat him out towards the end of the season last year) but for a bench player, he is decent for the league. Not sure whats going on with dwight but if you can match meeks up with dwight or run him with nash on the 2nd unit for a bit-- he will get some points.

Compared to last year, any points is good for the 2nd unit. (I used to applaud anyone last year to get 8-10 pts on the bench...)

Would love to add him. Dude can really shoot it. He'll be what Jason Kapono was suppose to be on this team.

LA is most likely going to wait til this Howard fiasco plays out. Most likely we will get Jrich in the package with him.

really? people don't want this guy? this dude can stroke it from the 3 as good as anyone in the league, you add him to this team and he'll provide 2-3 3's per game easily. plus he's young and can improve his game.
