Doesnt really mean much. Just could mean the camp reads realgm or other forums talking about Barbosa so just a recycling of information.
And even if Lakers Front office truly expresses interest ( i am sure they do) I dont think Barbosa would be interested in coming here when he can get several million somewhere else and..

also use Lakers mention as a leverage move!!!

Why wouldn't we? He would be perfect backing up Kobe and Nash.

Only problem, he made 7 mil last year and we've stated multiple times we aren't using the MMLE this year.

Convincing him to play for the vet min would be some epic magic wand work by Mitch. My guess is if we are able to bring him in it will be for the McRob/Goudelock S&T package we were rumored to be dangling for Brandon Rush.

Only problem is that won't happen unless we give up on the Howard deal since we at least need McRob's expiring, and by that time Barbosa may have signed elsewhere.

Lakers have no money, he would be out of the budget. Nice player. Just do not see him going from 7 mil to 1 mil.

Nash - Blake
Kobe - Barbosa
MWP - Ebanks
Gasol - Jamison
Bynum - Hill

Could definitely go to war with that team.

i think this would be a fiiine signin'.

i like Miles and Meeks, but Barbosa gives us the best of both players. Slashing and shooting.

if we were to sign one of CJ Miles or Jodie Meeks i wouldnt be that happy; we would need both, but id like Barbosa

I think he's overrated. He doesn't pass the ball and does a horrible job of managing clock. Not a particularly good outside shooter either.

Not a particularly good outside shooter? He has a career 3-point percentage of 39%.

Larry Bird has a career percentage of 37%.

He's actually a pretty good outside shooter, he shoots 2% higher than Meeks does from 3 and he's fast and he would give our bench another good scorer, I just hope he'll take a pay cut.

The fact that Barbosa made 7 million last year means absolutely nothing.

He and his agent know he won't EVER be making that again ... EVER.

Although he's a lot older, Antawn Jamison, made almost 20 million last year and signed for the minimum even though he got a five million dollar from Charlotte... Barbosa could do it too.

I'm not so naive to suggest that money means nothing, it does, but ROLE and OPPORTUNITY are just as important.

Barbosa would get HUGE minutes on the Lakers and HUGE exposure for his next contract.

All that being said, this would all come down to what money, role, and opportunity another team could offer.

If another team gives him 2-3 million for a defined role where he sees substantial minutes ... he'll sign with that team.

Maybe I'm being biased, but I just can't see which team can give him everything he probably wants.

If they get Barbosa and a backup SF who can shoot (ie Webster, J.Rich, Pietrus, etc) ...

... this team is elite (with absolutely no holes).
