Updated Roster?

Post#1 » by MadNESS » Sat Aug 11, 2012 2:47 am

Do I have this right?

PG: Steve Nash / Steve Blake / Chris Duhon / Darius Morris
SG: Kobe Bryant / Jodie Meeks / Andrew Goudelock
SF: Ron Artest / Devin Ebanks / Earl Clark
PF: Pau Gasol / Antwan Jamison
Cc: Dwight Howard / Jordan Hill

Edit: 2nd round picks - Darius Johnson - Odom and Robert Sacre

I believe Jamison will see sometime at SF.
I think Duhon will overtake Blake as Nash's back-up, eventually.
I think Gasol will still see ALOT of time at Center, with us playing split time with Jamison / Hill at PF.
I think think there is a trade or 2 coming.(Blake or Duhon..and maybe some form of S&T with Ebanks.
I think Meeks will play more minutes then people think in the regular season, with Kobe playing more minutes at SF.
We have so many options, because so many different lineups fit together and could work together.
Im so excited for the season to start, and again, I dont think were done.

Dang, thats a sick roster...

I don't think Morris/Goudelock will make it.

We also drafted Scacre - not sure if he will make it either.

We need a big, athletic wing player who could shoot. Brandon Rush would have been perfect. :( Our backcourt is severely undersized except for Kobe.

Earl Clark is a PF.
You left off Johnson-Odom as third string SG (over Goudelock because of his defense).

I agree with you about Duhon overtaking Blake eventually, but only if Duhon (1) rededicates himself to defense and (2) finds his stroke from outside

Also, I think Goudelock and Morris (unfortunately) will be released.

Didn't notice you left off Sacre .... and I disagree, I think he will make it.

Barring injury, Sacre and J-Odom will be in street clothes ALL season.

hopefully they keep morris, i know his shooting ability is sub-par at best but the kid has potential to be a great pass first point with good size and speed. i know his weakness' (shooting and defense) are what the lakeshow need most but i thought theyd wait it out atleast another year to see if he can develop

Be hilarious if they trade Blake/Duhon together for a longer contract that's actually a good player.

With Nash and hopefully Howard's contracts there for 2014, you're looking at one max player (I can't really see two since that would mean both guys have to take paycuts). That means you have room to splurge if you do want a max player in that year. Perhaps up to 10m or so in taking on contracts.

If the opportunity comes up L.A. can use Blake/Duhon to get someone better.

why's it so hard to understand that Morris' deal is guaranteed for the year? Morris is making the team. it's done. Goudelock, however, will be cut... his deal isn't guaranteed after camp, he sucked at summer league, and DJO is better than him. Goudelock is done. and by my estimation... Duhon will be bought out to make room for either KMart or to open up an extra roster for flexibility during the season.

he's 6'10, so no.

I see a few different potential FC second unit lineups

Ebanks/Jamison/Howard
Ebanks/Jamison/Pau
Ebanks/Jamison/Hill
Jamison/Hill/Pau
Jamison/Hill/Howard

Clark will only get garbage minutes imo.

Word on him is that he can play some 3 but he's turnover prone...
He's more perimeter oriented than a traditional 4.

And he's still evolving so who knows what he'll play on this roster.

He's 6'10", true... But he's only 225lbs...
Never have rice at Hanzo's house...

Most of the roster spots are set I dont see the Lakers adding another player. Ebanks will become the full time backup SF with Kobe and Jamison sliding in there a few times. Sacre will most likely be a body for training camp because of Clark. The only real competition I see is Goudelock, DMO, and Morris fighting for 2 spots in the backcourt.

He's actually a 3 more than a 4. He's been asked to be a 4 and bulk up but he was at his best a 3. Some guys that have long strides do best when they face shorter, quicker players. Other guys like Carmelo prefer facing 4s.

Paul George is 6'10 and he plays SG, his height has nothing to do with why he cant play SF

Actually he could very easily play SF next to Jamison. Ebanks job will be a danger to this guy as I'd say he arguably has a little more talent (athleticism).

Roster now features the #1 active scorer in the league, Kobe (29,484), the #8 active scorer, Jamison (19,246), the #13 active scorer, Nash (16, 649), the #24 active scorer, Pau (14,862), the #44 active scoreer, WorldPeace (11,757), and the #45 active scorer, Howard (11,435).

Pretty impressive in a 30 team league to have 5 of the top 45 active scorers, one at EACH position.

Also, 2 of the top 7 activer leaders in assists - #2 Nash (9,916) and #7 Kobe (5,418).

Also 4 of the top 25 active rebounders: #9 Howard (8,072), #10 Jamison (7,740), #14 Pau (7,335), and #24 Kobe (6,142)....

Also 4 of the top 36 active in steals: #2 Kobe (1,722), #5 World Peace (1,543), #27 Jamison (1,009) and #36 Nash (836).....

It would be wise to keep sacre as a 3rd string center. The injury bug hits every team every year. With dwight's back still in question and Gasol getting older we need a big body like him. Especially for the price we're gonna get him at. Don't see any difference between him and the other huge 7 foot scrubs like fesenko and aaron gray, except this guy looks like he has a motor.

Man I agree with you guys completely on Johnson-Odom over Morris and Goudelock. Morris and G-lock will never be able to contribute on the defensive end the way the johnson-odom can. Dude played the right way in the summer league. He's not a flat out stud, but he makes up for it in sheer effort. While G-lock and morris were trying to score 20 a game and were playing absolutely zero defense, odom was showing he's willing to bust his ass on both ends. He didn't perform well, but i'd love a guy with that tenacity in every practice. Kinda like the fire that crittenton lit under farmar's ass a few years back.
