Who get to play PF or center if Gasol is at one of those when opening night comes and D12 is rehabbing.

Jamison probably starts at PF with Pau moving to center

I would suggest that Hill start so that the team gets used to what the flow of the offense will be when Dwight gets back. That said, I want Earl Clark to play minutes next to Pau. I have a feeling he could turn out to be a steal for the team, possibly as Antwan's eventual replacement.

Probably Hill so that Jamison could get accustomed to 6th man role... Wouldnt be surprised if its Jamison for spacing but if I had to bet, I'd say Hill

Then again, we will have no firepower coming off the bench. I'll take Hill at the center spot.

I rather have Hill be at the 4 or 5, and Gasol at the 4 or 5. For one better defense, remember Jamison is a terrible defender and his scoring/shooting isn't needed in the 1st unit we have Nash as a 3pt threat, I also think that Peace will have a surprising season and his shot will come back just like it started to come around late in the season. I think this offseason will be a godsend for MWP to continue to get back into his tip-top shape. Lastly, the minutes will give confidence to Hill as he will be playing with Nash and will get a lot of put backs and easy dunks also he is more hungry/young. We should keep Jamison on the bench for the 2nd unit, its the wises and most effective way to use our squad while Howard gets to 100%.

I think Pau will start at center, no idea who's going to play PF Jamison or Hill...

Pau would start at Center for sure. If anything outside of last year Pau played a bulk of his minutes at the Center position.

I'd like to see Hill at center. I still have terrible memories of Pau being exhausted the second half of the season a few years back when Bynum missed the first half of the season because Pau was playing heavy minutes at center (he was beasting though). He's just not the defensive banger big, so playing that role exhausts him. Pretty sure Lebron weighs more than him.

I realize that Howard isn't expected to miss that much time, but it's also important for roles to start to be set early in the season.

I'd ride with this. Here is a question though. If in all these negotiations we knew there was a chance D Ho would possibly be out until January, why didn't we just wait for the trade deadline? We could have just kept Drew as the Center not just for passing time but also if he put up better numbers than last year he becomes more enticing.

I'm kind of torn here. I want Pau to get comfortable playing at the 4 with Nash, but if Hill starts then who in the world is going to back him up? Our bench is going to be tiny, and I'm not sure if Hill can handle that many minutes anyway. The most that he's played in his career is 16.2 so I'm not sure if we can give him heavy minutes like that.

I guess I'm not opposed to Pau starting at the 5 for the meantime assuming we limit his minutes. Give him 25 MPG and let Hill handle the rest at center. Jamison and Pau can split minutes at the 4.

Has there been any kind of timetable given on Howard's return? I've heard that he's going to possibly miss the start of the season, but I don't recall seeing anything that has him out until January.

@Ankle - Now the coaching staff, training staff and team can actually talk and strategize with Dwight - that wouldn't be possible. Also waiting would increase the odds of him going to Brooklyn and Bynum getting injured again.

And I think team chemistry wise it would be WAY worse to do this at the deadline

start hill

pau/hill would make it a smoother transition to pau/dwight than jamison/pau switching midway through december

Because maybe trades arent dictated by what one team wants? Especially the one that is on the receiving end. Orlando wanted D12 out of there why would they wait to January when it was convenient for LA? And what if Bynum got hurt? Then we are all assed out.

Id say start Pau & Clark. He gives Pau room to operate down. Let Hill + Jamison get used to playing with the second unit.
