Ebanks to be Trevor Ariza2.0 this year

Not many people outside the die hard Laker fans think anything of Ebanks..

With Matt Barnes gone Ebanks will finally have a consistent role on this team. I think he could thrive this year and bring what Ariza brought to the table..what I mean is

A hard nose defender - long and quick
A slasher- something able to attack the rim
Bring Youth/energy- teams need those spurts of momentum
Hit Open Shots- this is an area where I hope he gets better at

If Ebanks can improve on his jumper, defensive awareness( not to get fouls), and how to get contact slashing we could have a break out player. It is his contract year too, so an extra incentive is there. Ebanks is trying to establish himself a player in this league..

Btw: I sill wish we had a bad A** back up point guard who could create open looks like give Meek open looks, Set up Ebanks for easy points, and give Nash a long rest.. A guy can wish I guess ha

I like what I saw from Ebanks in the little time he got all last season, it's his year or bust for him

I don't think Ebanks will ever achieve the prime Ariza like levels but it's not totally outside the realm of possibility. Before making any predictions about the guy I'd like to know how hard he's been working this offseason and what exactly he's been working on.

I really don't see it TBH. He isn't nearly as athletic as Ariza, not a good help defender like Ariza, and nowhere near the shooter Ariza was in 09. The only thing similar between the two to me are looks and the fact that both are good/decent offensive rebounders.

It's possible. The only thing Ebanks is really lacking is confidence. He seems to be very decent defender so the more he plays the better he should become.

I dont think Ebanks will ever be as good as Ariza I think a more likely comparison is Corey Brewer. A very good bench player.

Lakers might as well go all in and trade Ebanks for Ariza.

Oh and take Duhon/Blake with him too.

if lakers were to meet OKC in the playoffs, ebanks would come in handy to defend durant

Corey Brewer is every bit as good as Ariza tho...I think the physical resemblance has alot of fans wanting Ebanks to be as good as Ariza was but in reality he just isnt right now. Their similarities are a bit eerie, same draft pick and everything. The issue with Ebanks vs Ariza is that at the time LA had no real option other than Luke Walton at the 3 and Ariza had already got ample playing time elsewhere. Ebanks really isnt going to see the floor much with this team neither should he. People that keep saying he had a good game against KD need to go back and watch that game. Durant got off whatever he wanted. He missed some sure shots. He just had a bad shooting 2nd half. Ebanks has proven very little to warrant any real expectations from fans. As far as Im concerned he could be replaced by Matt Barnes and we wouldnt notice a thing.

If Ebanks became half of what Ariza is, than he will be great this year!
Ariza was my favorite player on the Lakers!
Ebanks shows flashes of what Ariza could do except hit the three!
We need him to be training in the gym knocking down 1,000 threes a day!

Not a Laker fan, but I actually like the guy and wondered why Brown never gave him much PT after the first few games of this past season (then again, lots of Brown's decisions make me wonder). With increased minutes, I do think he can be the next Trevor Ariza.

Might be asking too much out of someone who has made 2 3-pointers in his entire career (and 0 all of last season). That's all he's going to be doing on offense anyways.

I would take Trevor back in a heart beat. It could have been a resurrection of Show Time with Trevor running the break alongside Nash while Dwight trails behind them.

stop with the Ariza/Ebanks comparisons. Ariza is flat out a better player. Ebanks have a long long way to go.

doubt Ebanks will get the PT he wants. Artest is in shape and Meeks will back up Kobe. Antawn may even play 3.
