Hey Lakers fans,
I just saw on the main board that Jamaal Wilkes jersey will be retired this season. My question is are there plans to retire Cooper's # at any point?

Only if he makes the Hall of Fame, in all likelihood... I think he is deserving, but Lakers only retire HOFers

Congrats to Wilkes. Silky smooth player, unheralded, but one of those guys whom you can count on to bring steady production. Clutch performer. James Worthy took on this mold in later years, being that reliable "forward" when everyone was keying bigtime on kareem and magic.

No way imo... Didnt have that great a career with us (wasnt as all star) and didnt have a very long tenure (7 years)... I could see the Kings maybe retiring him
You have to be a great player (all star caliber) and a HOF basically to be retired by the Lakers. Someone like Mitch Richmond obviously wont get retired by us, even if he is inducted into the HOF

Cooper played his whole career here, and since he probably won't get his jersey retired i think the Lakers should hire him as a commentator. I think he's funny

Lakers announce Kareem statue to be unveiled Nov. 16. Also, will retire Shaq's number on April 2 and Jamaal Wilkes' number on Dec. 28.

We all know Shaq is a sure fire hall of famer, but I thought the player had to be inducted into the Hall of Fame before the Lakers retired their jersey. Am I missing something here?
