Clippers recruiting our bench ... again

Post#1 » by seoulman » Thu Sep 13, 2012 1:54 pm

Lamar Odom ... then Rony Turiaf ... now Matt Barnes.

Watch out Josh Powell and DJ Mbenga, the Clippers are gonna be knockin' on your door soon. If you've played on the Lakers bench, you're a Clippers target.

Its like their ownership has no idea who to go after so they just follow everyone of the Lakers moves. It would be comical if they ended up trading Griffin for Dwight if the Lakers plans to get Dwight fell through.

Odom ended up giving us Nash. Happy about that. Odom would have been welcomed back for the right price, but with Hill and Jamison they'll make us forget about Odom.

Ronny Turiaf is a power forward playing center. He can block some shots but other than that just another hustle-energy guy. We have Jordan Hill who's younger and an upgrade over Turiaf.

Matt Barnes is solid if he stayed healthy. With MWP getting in shape and healthy plus E-banks, Lakers are fine at the SF. Probably our weakest position, but even if Barnes was here, he would only get scrub minutes.

Mitch and Jim did the best they could to solidify our bench.

I'm okay with the Clippers taking the Lakers' left over.

OP, you realize Steve Blake and Josh Powell were Clippers right before we signed them, right? And Odom and Barnes were Clipps before they were ever Lakers?

We do it too.

how else would a dead beat franchise whos made it to the playoffs 2 or 3 times in the last 20 years try to make a name for themselves ? Follow in the foot steps of the team that makes it to the playoffs pretty much every year. Looks like they have a thing for ex-Lakers.

Lakers get CP3, then the leauge vetos it: Clippers go after him immediatly.
Lakers talk to Grant Hill: Clippers right away sign him.
Lakers might bring LO back: Clippers trade for him.
Ronny Turiaf, ex Laker: Clippers sign him.
Matt Barnes, ex Laker: Clippers are signing him. (but on a note, im happy someone picked up MB, even if it is the other LA team.)

AND RE: the Dwight Howard comment, im glad LA wanted and found a way to get him. I honestly would have felt nauseous if we lost our chances on DW.. to the "other" LA team.

Just when the Clippers think they have the answers, the Lakers change the questions !

LOL. I think there is a greater sense of familiarity with each others' teams, due to obviously being so close and playing in the same division. So the other LA team's players will be more of a known quantity than players on other teams.

Given how well the Lakers bench have played, they can have everyone on that bench squad from the last five years and have fun with them. Lord knows, those guys sucked for us.

We're forgetting that part wherein Lamar and Barnes were Clippers first.

Barnes is one of many players who has been working out at the Clippers' practice facility. They get to see firsthand who is playing well. He's been impressive enough that the Clips are willing to sign him. He will be a 12th man at best on the depth chart whereas he was a rotation player with the Lakers. Also, DAL, BOS, and MIA have shown interest in him so I guess they're "copying" the Lakers too. Instead of making blanket statements just to dismiss the Clips, how about taking this for what it is - an end of the bench signing that will provide injury insurance. Nothing more.

Blake
Odom
Barnes
Powell

All Clippers first.

I don't like the Floppers either but you're reaching.

Aw come on now, I'm a little edu-mu-cated about basketball. I knew Odom and Blake were former Clippers. I didn't know that Barnes and Powell were former Clippers.
