DIRECTV Laker games?
I know we're all anxiously waiting for training camp and the season to start to make a run at #17. But as a relatively new DirecTV customer, does anyone know what's going to happen with the games being played exclusively on the TWC channel? Will NBA League Pass play Laker games in the area or will they be blacked out?

Best way to see if you will get the games. Go to the site IWANTMYLAKERS.COM, and put your area code in and your provider.

Re: DIRECTV Laker games?
I don't think they can do that, can they? I'd call contact someone from NBA League Pass or DirectTV and ask them that question before ordering.
It would be incredibly lame if they were allowed to black out those games seeing as how DirectTV won't be carrying TWC Sportsnet. I was under the impression that blackouts only occurred when a game was broadcast on local channels that were part of your service.

Re: DIRECTV Laker games?
if you live in the LA market, nba league pass will 100% for sure black out the lakers game. thats just how it works.
right now TWC is still in negotiations with all cable/satellite providers, they haven't come to terms with anybody yet. just gotta wait and see til the games get closer.

Blows that the channel is starting October 1st so after one the most exciting off-seasons a lot of us are going to be missing all of their exclusive training camp coverage.

Re: DIRECTV Laker games?
what will most likely happen is they'll wait like a day before the games and suddenly strike a deal...
the issue is that twc wants to charge over 4 dollars for the channel that only features the lakers...which is much more expensive than fox sports (i think they charge 3) but with fox sports you get clippers, dodgers, angels, kings, and ducks as opposed to just the lakers with the twc. so your local provider is hesitant on taking on that channel.

don't forget the galaxy and sparks! they'll be on TWC as well. also get a full fledged spanish TWC sportsnet channel, so wider reach.

Re: DIRECTV Laker games?
I would guess eventually TWC will strike a deal with DirectTV. Too much money to lose, not to carry the channel especially after paying o much money for those broadcasting rights in the first place. I jut think TWC is trying to swindle the most money it can out of DirectTV, that's all.

Glad to hear everyone's more confident in this thing working itself out than I am. But to do our part, click the link below to send a standardized email to your provider requesting the channel.

Im not sure if its a good thing to complete the iwantmylakers form. Essentially doesnt that give TWC more leverage to negotiate with the other carriers? The more leverage TWC has the more hard nose stance they take, the less likely Directtv or any other carrier will accept their price.

Re: DIRECTV Laker games?
Agree Big Game, if I'm not correct didn't the Lakers and TWC create that link ? If so they're gauging the demand anyway, to counter DTV with factual numbers if needed.iamworthy wrote:Im not sure if its a good thing to complete the iwantmylakers form. On the other hand, if nobody says anything what is to stop other carriers from just saying "we won't carry the network at all and save ALL the money?"

Because at the end of the day its not costing your carrier anything. Its costing us the consumer. Whatever TWC and your carrier negotiates that cost will be passed on to you in theory. Not only that but even if you carry said nothing to TWC about wanting the channel TWC would still probably call them to get them to carry it. TWC needs as many carriers to pickup this channel so they can make their money back.
