what would be the harm in inviting him to camp. If he outshines Morris or Duhon they could be bought out.
Arenas showed that he can still stroke it with the Grizzles. He has already been spotted at Laker headquarters. He knows the offense, and has chemistry with Antawn Jamison
I would still like to bring in one more point
Arenas
or even these two guys
Akogon- kid is a baller a lite Isiah Thomas (Kings)
Pat Beverly- good defender, the European Derrik Rose

Because financially it would make no sense unless he was so good that it would justify the signing. If Gilbert isnt going to come off the bench avg 10-11 ppg then why not just roll out with Duhon or Blake and let Morris and DJO get garbage minutes for development.

Gil has a reliable jumper! talent level is better then all those other guys
sign him to a non guaranteed contract for the minimum. He just wants a chance.. Let the best man stay on the team. Gil could spark the team and make it rain with the 3ball

Arenas would be a great addition. There's still a lot of fans that buy into hype (more than chemistry and substance), and he can still bring a good amount of that.

Is he really more reliable than Duhon or Blake at this point? So you have 2 guys sitting on the bench with guaranteed contracts but you want to bring Gilbert in to possibly never even suit up? Also further stalling the development of DJO, Morris and Goudelock since he would be stealing their minutes too?
Also think about Gilbert's POV. Why would he sign in LA to ride the pine when he can either go to Europe for an equal or more value and play or sign with an NBA that would actually have a good amount of minutes for him? Or am I just one of the few around here that thinks critically about these things...

Not everyone thinks that deeply. Sometimes, stacking up as many well known players as possible is the only way that some fans know how to "build" a team.

i doubt he would want to sign on a team where he would probably get the 2nd most guard mins off the bench. i bet he ends up in europe

Some guys just prefer to stay in town over leaving the country
Gil is from LA
He would be on a contender.. Hes made plenty of money and if you know Gil you will find out being on a contender would give him a closure
He is also best friends with Jamison and Dwight.. Who wouldnt want to go win a ring with your friends
Chris Duhon is fat and unknown
Steve Blake is lousy and injury prone and old

steve blake is simply better. blake is a much better defender and blake has been a more reliable shooter for a few yrs now. i'd also take andrew goudelock at everything over arenas at this point.

gilbert'd be down for signing a minimum contract.
he's still being paid by orlando to the tune of 21 million dollars this year
luxury tax is still dollar for dollar, no risk, high reward
