the more and more i talk to my cable provider, the more and more i get the feeling no deal is gonna take place. i hate the laker organization for making this deal. i feel betrayed :/

eh...i didnt place a 46 inch led tv in my bedroom to stream games from a low quality website with lags

A deal will be reached with all the providers, it's basically no need for them to pay TWC for preseason games. It's a two way rope, TWC knows it can't erase millions of fans who don't have TWC and the providers know they can't hold on to customers if they don't pick it up.

And Kobe is said to be playing.

i really hope you're right Deep...i'm just worried that it's going to take a year or so for them to make a deal when this is the season i really want to watch.

this is what my provider had to say (Cox):

We understand the Lakers are popular, but they also come at an extremely high price. Considering the number of professional sports events that it will televise, Time Warner is asking for one of the highest prices that we have seen for a sports network.

We have to pay cable programmers such as Time Warner for their sports content. They don’t pay us, therefore we must ensure that any new programming we add to our lineup is added at a reasonable price as it could ultimately impact all of our customer's bills (not just those who wish to view this sports programming).

We thank you for your request and have submitted a rquest for this channel in your name. Thanks

it took yearsss for time warner to get nfl games...just not sure they will make a deal by the start of the season.

your company isn't going to tell you anything of value, so i wouldn't really even bother talking to them right now aside from sending em an email letting know you want the channel. i mean, what exactly do u expect them to tell u? they aren't going to tell each customer that calls them how negotiations are going. doubt anyone you talk to is even high enough up the ladder to know anything.

yeah i totally agree. they cant comment on negotiations while they're ongoing so they keep giving us the same lame excuse. i just hope that the day before regular season starts, i can watch my purp n gold

The providers still hold the cards though. People who already have non TW cable or satellite service most likely watch other programming (football, tnt, comedy central, food network, discovery, news, amc/hbo, etc.) aside from the Lakers and will not cancel solely for the Lakers. Even then, I don't see the companies losing too many viewers from people who cancel just because they can't get their Laker fix. It's basically going to be a tug of war. If satellite agrees to terms with TW, cable companies like Charter will have to as well to keep up and vis versa. If neither does anything, they have no real competition as TW is outside of their area. The consumers can't really do anything about it.

I said after the 1st game that I won't ever wake up to a preseason game again and I intend to keep my promise
I'll watch it later if I feel like it

Besides,tomorrow morning is UFC 153 so I'll watch that one live

I stream because in SC they don't provide that channel since its out of the area and if I get NBA league pass its blacked out which doesn't make much sense either!

technically its not "blacked out" for you, pre-season games for the most part simply aren't getting shown for anyone.

This is when whoever gets the deals done, will be the new boss of the company. You can not turn away that many without either being a hero or a zero. So who will step up and get the games to the masses.
