There comes a point when one must make a decision. Are YOU willing to do what it takes to push the right buttons to elevate those around you? If the answer is YES, are you willing to push the right buttons even if it means being perceived as the villain? Here's where the true responsibility of being a leader lies. Sometimes you must prioritize the success of the team ahead of how your own image is perceived. The ability to elevate those around you is more than simply sharing the ball or making teammates feel a certain level of comfort. It's pushing them to find their inner beast, even if they end up resenting you for it at the time.
I'd rather be perceived as a winner than a good teammate. I wish they both went hand in hand all the time but that's just not reality. I have nothing in common with lazy people who blame others for their lack of success. Great things come from hard work and perseverance. No excuses.
This is my way. It might not be right for YOU but all I can do is share my thoughts. It’s on YOU to figure out which leadership style suits you best.
Will check back in with you soon.. Till then
Mamba out
Reminds me of MJ to Tex: " There is no I in team but there is in win, and I win"
That sums up Kobe and his approach in a nutshell as there is no one of his generation since MJ and Scottie period who has won more than him, which is his job, not to be liked

Sounds like Steve Jobs and Michael Jordan memo.
If I was a teammate with Kobe, and knew I would have to take some verbal abuse or chewing out, then I would have to talk to Kobe before this happens, so we know we are on the same page. Dwight Howard has stated, that he knows that Kobe will be on him, but knows it will be for his own good for the team.
I think I read something in John Wooden book, about having his players signing documents or reading, that to don't take anything personally, because it isn't personal, but lashing out at players is for the benfit of the team, so the team understood before thrown to the fire. Wooden added he would use the carrot or stick on certain players, he knew what players to push and not.

I agree with his standings. No problem with it at all.
But at the same time. Smush Parker is looooooooooooooong gone. He's not even revelant. No need to bash him. His own actions speak for themself.

Howard is going from being a franchise player, who was coddled by management, to being on Bryant's team, so it will be interesting to see if he can adapt. Blind faith leads people to wholeheartedly believe that it will be a seamless transition, but there are a lot of factors (i.e. ego, contracts, etc) involved.

I just find it funny that people when describing the "Smush era" act like it lasted a decade, and we were the worst team in basketball or some ****, it was 3 years and we missed the playoffs once
