Steve Blake beats out Duhan, Morris.
This will be his 3rd year as primary backup PG; possibly part-time backup SG as well.

Now that he stepped up his game during a couple of pre-season games to secure the spot, I expect him to lay an egg and piss everyone off for the rest of the year knowing he's got that security. Don't be surprised.

Asked what Blake, who served as the Lakers primary back-up last season, had done during camp to earn the role, Brown said, "He had a little bit of an advantage because he was in the system last year. So he's got a good feel on what we want to do on both ends of the floor. It was close.”
It was close?
That's disturbing considering how bad Duhon and Morris are.
I can't wait for Blake to be off the Lakers. What an utterly useless player.

Blake just needs to be less hesitant/passive and a lot more aggressive. He acts like a pussy more often than not which makes him suck ass. The last couple games without Kobe when he hasn't been afraid to make moves or to shoot, he's played pretty well. Keep it up and don't disappear again.
And how the hell was it close. You guys can hate on him but Duhon/Morris behind him? Lol. Of course Blake secures backup PG spot.

All he has to do is shoot over 27-28% from 3 point land and not turn the ball over. That's all we are asking but it might be too much

I wish we had a better option, but Blake is probably the best backup point we have...
A little concerned about MB's "He was in the system last season" explanation... It's a new system... And vastly different personnel.
Just not buying it... It comes down to Blake sucking less than the other guys.

after the horrible experiment @ backup 2 last year you would think/hope Potato head learned his lesson, I guess one cannot question stupidity.

You're selling Blake short wtf... 27-28% would be utter **** for a shooter, it would be disgusting if he shot that. And he's never shot that low in a season in his life so it's not asking too much for him to shoot at least 37% (he was there 2 seasons ago with us)

I hope guys are starting to realize we aren't going anywhere with Blake as a back up. He's horrible & no upside. His best days are long behind him. Yet we run him out there night after night with young players on the bench that could be developing

Blake at backup PG for someone like CP3, Dwill, etc, would be fine... Because he wouldn't see the floor that much...
But for someone like Nash, it's a real problem, unless he's on the floor with Kobe most of the time...
Nash is going to need his rest if we want him effective in Spring. And Blake is too much of a liability to play major minutes when that happens unless he has someone else to shoulder the decision making load.
