I've always been a huge Kobe fan. I've been in many arguments over the years with people who hate the man. I just wanted to show some appreciation to a player who's one of the greatest to ever do it. He literally gave a 110% every minute he has played. I believe that will continue. Kobe is one of the greatest, because he is a insane competitor. He is to basketball what Jobs was to technology or what Sam Walton was to retail.

I hope we see him get another ring for his other hand, this year. A lot of people think he's too much of a negative to lead this team. Well, I say for a man that's such a negative he's gotten' it right at least 5 times. He's been to the finals 7 times.

Here's to Kobe having another great year, and slowly passing the torch to the future.

Solid thoughts, I could not agree more. As times goes on after Kobe has retired, the jealousy, misunderstanding, and straight up hate, will turn to admiration, respect, and a true appreciation for how good Mamba really is. Seated at the right hand of your Avatar in my opinion.

Everyone likes to say that we will never see another Jordan, I'll go down one more notch and say we will never see another Kobe. This next generation is soft, entitled, and has been raised by an over-extended ESPN philosophy. The drive, work ethic, and tunnel-vision determination we saw from Jordan and have in Kobe, simply does not exist anymore. I feel lucky to know that I am fortunate enough to have watched the two best basketball players to ever play the game.

I thought this would be about how he started the season, and I'm lovin it so far. Like so many knowledgeable fans said, he defers to players who deserves respect and he is picking his spots for the first 2. Hope he continues and Howard picks up the defense when he becomes his old self.

The Lakers don't look dominant. Far from it. However, I think we will see this team work together and put something very special together by the end of the season. Kobe is playing very smart basketball. He seems to play basketball like it's one continuos game for the whole season. He knows what work will do for your team at the end of the season. I'm not totally sold on Mike Brown, but Kobe is so I will defer to Kobe.

Just to add on the appreciation; Kobe isn't Jordan. Kobe is different. Kobe is a legend, and legends aren't other legends. Although we try, comparing them it isn't fair. Kobe didn't have the same circumstances Jordan had. Kobe didn't get to play in the early nineties and dominate. He dominated the following decade. People like to say LeBron has been the best player since '07, but I disagree. Kobe made sure the Lakers were always in contention. Not just in contention, but competing for titles. Kobe is a one of a kind. One of the greatest Lakers. There's never been a bigger leader. He's lead by action and love for the game. He's as focused as Peyton Manning and as brutal as Jordan. I've heard Kobe likes playing chess. The way he treats the game is how a grandmaster treats a chess board. When he's all done, I think we will all be "Searching for Kobe Bryant"

C'mon. So if there's an appreciation thread on somebody, you make the leap we think he's God. I actually believe in the Christian God. Kobe is so far from that. I just wanted to make an appreciation thread for a Laker that's almost on his last go around.
Kobe gets a lot of hate, because people think he's been overrated. Well I'm just saying he's not overrated, and he played the game with respect and genius. Kobe was lucky to have Phil as a mentor when he was a young man. It's allowed him to see the big picture. Sure he has flaws and has been very immature, but he's had the spotlight on him his whole adult life. He's handled it extremely well, and I appreciate what he's done for the game of basketball even if you don't.

Addygrace, would you let Kobe pork your girl? I would.

He's shooting 61% so far this year. I know it's a small sample size but lets hope he can keep it up! I know we'll all be happy with 50+%

Why can't God be more like Kobe Bryant? When his team is losing and needs him, Kobe makes the winning shot and saves the day. When innocent children are starving and dehydrated, God misses the jumpshot of food & water into their mouths and they die. Kobe comes through in the clutch, God doesn't.

I'm a fan of Bryant, but the comparison is ridiculous to me. Those two guys have more of a place in world history than Bryant ever will.
