Refer to Stephano for Laker fan guidelines.

I lived in Boston while in college. Proudly walked around with my laker gear on. I got a lot of crap for it but No one really freaked out about it, but drunk guys in Boston are passionate about hating the lakers. I usually tell them I go to school here and I'm from LA.

There are not that many Thunder fans out there. Lakers fans are everywhere. Yesterdays game had a pretty big number of LA fans in the Rose Garden.

Don't sweat about wearing your Lakers gear. Fans really are everywhere. When I travel home to Cleveland, I still rock my purple and yellow :)

I would be scared to go to Boston wearing the purple and gold. For the last finals, some Lakers fans beat the crap out of this Celtics fan. It was on Live tv.

I'd do it and hope nothing happens, but at the first sign of a dude threatening me I'd pussy out and take off my apparel and walk around shirtless in the cold

Break out the car flags to show support. We all have them here in LA.

Thunder fans are no joke. Weren't there more than just a few shootings near CEA last season during the playoffs? I think OP should have no problem 'til then, but if he sees these guys suddenly sporting orange and teal, I advise him to quickly run the other way:

You never jump ship. I have been a fan for a very long time IMO. I started watching the Lakers in 81 - 82. I was in the military for 20 yrs, being stationed in the states and all over the world, and there Laker haters everywhere. All I can say is watch where you're at and what you say. Some fans just take things a lil too far.

Hey Scott! I heard Manute Bol is banging your mom!

Love Celtic Pride, hate the Celtics though.

You would think half you guys experienced gangbanging like hate for wearing a certain teams gear somewhere. The average person could careless except at the actual sporting event and even then its usually the drunk people that end up having issues with each other not regular competent people.

Had to change the title to something that actually meant something... I think I chose something appropriate.

Dodger and Laker fan living in TX... Rangers, Mavs, Spurs... Football fans... Take your pick.

Approximately 60% of Toronto home games are filled with opposing teams fans. Whether it be the Jays, Raps or Leafs. No one really gives them **** except for some light hearted ribbing. Guess the Canadian sports culture isn't as all encompassing, I also think a lot of American sports bravado has to do with nationalism/patriotism. Which is awesome though, I love the American infatuation and idolization of sports.

Eh I got some friends in the Boston area, and having been there myself as well, they aren't that into the Boston-Lakers rivalry that much. If you were wearing Yankees gear that would of been a little different, but the Boston area aren't into their basketball like their football and baseball. I mean they like it but they don't love it, but they won't beat up Laker fans just cause they are Laker fans. But if you were a yankee fan.....

Get em Tasp!

Oh, wait..

EDIT: Is hockey not as big in Canada as I believe it to be? I think this just boils down to things Canada isn't good at.

Got em?

The leafs are actually mostly an exception to the rule. Still, if a prominent American hockey team is in town, there are many fans of said teams popping up out the woodwork.

And hey, we invented basketball. So there's that.

You guys don't know how good you have it, never have I been to a country that is more in tune with their sports. Everyone is passionate about it down to the grassroots level.

Nah hockey is king in Canada bro. I was working in Vancouver during these past Stanley cup playoffs and it's all they talk about, the town was buzzing.

They really do follow other Canadian hockey leagues as well. I went to Game 1, 2, and 5 of the Kings vs Canucks series and I was decked out in kings gear and when we upset them it was really tense in that arena lol. I was with 2 Canucks fans so it was cool. I think it's like Americans and football it's popular at all levels.
