It is my OPINION the Lakers Tanked the Beginning of Season

Post#1 » by AirBahama » Mon Nov 12, 2012 6:10 am

Anyone else besides me think the Lakers tanked those first few games at the beginning of the season in order to get Mike Brown fired. I know this is some type of conspiracy theory, but I honestly don't see how we were so bad against some of those teams we played. Our talent alone should of excelled us over Dallas, Portland and Utah. I think the Lakers management had an idea they were going to get Phil Jackson, and management possibly told them to tank a few games so they would have a legitimate reason to Fire Mike Brown.

*Discuss if you also feel the Lakers tanked those first few games of the season*

So they knew inside information that the Lakers FO would fire Mike Brown after a few games cuz of a few losses? And Steve Nash got injured on purpose? Just say no to drugs dude.

What does Steve Nash being injured have to do with anything I said, please take your own advice and say no to drugs. I understand maybe everything I said may not have been correct, but I would not be surprised if the Lakers tanked those first few games is all I am trying to say. It is a possibility, there is no way in hell we should of lost to Dallas on opening night.

Phil wanted back and the FO knew it,but they couldn't fire Brown just like that, they needed a reason...Kobe was told the news, evidently he was ecstatic and decided with the rest of the team to lose the games on purpose
They decided not to sacrifice their stats, rather not play any D and lose that way...

With a 1-4 start ,the FO had the excuse they needed in firing Brown, but didn't bring Phil immediately for obvious reasons,to not look like all was set in place from awhile now....they agreed with Phil to wait a few days/games and then come as the head coach..

With the plan working perfectly, the team had no reason to tank anymore and fall further behind in the standings,so they started playing with a sense of urgency and winning again

Or,I could be wrong and none of the above really happened :D

I know what I'm trying to present sounds pretty idiotic, but to some degrees I truthfully feel this team tanked.

No.

Brown was trying to deliberately run the Princeton for 80% of the game, force feeding the principles of the Prniceton to the detriment of the team. MB left, and they started playing pick up game basketball, allowing the guys to just play. Its pretty simple.

First off the word "tanked" is the wrong word to use, they didn't tank they just flat out didn't execute what was given to them with precision. It was a combination of things that eventually cost Brown his job. First off his sub rotations were horrid, the team had to always dig out of a hole because of it.

But tank.....no that's a reach.

To be fair, the offense wasn't that much of a problem (ranked 9th in the league and only getting better). It was the defense that lost us games.

It was the bench rotation that lost at least two games.

^ LOL, that too. I'm so glad Brown is gone. It's good to see Meeks actually get some burn now.

Mike Brown is such a bad coach that when he's gone it looks like the team was tanking while he was still here. That's what's going on here

I do not think you can have the word "tank" and a team Kobe Bryant plays on in the same sentence. They did not tank, there was just clearly no direction from Mike Brown and poor system put into place. We saw his downfalls in Cleveland and nobody truly believed he had what it takes to lead this type of a team.

Brown was the wrong hire from the start, they should have made a move in the offseason after landing Nash and Howard. But now though the team is at least headed in a more positive direction and will make the most out of their weapons.

I think he lost the players more then them purposely tanking, which is why they needed to get rid of him ASAP, no one was buying into him or the system.

Even though we have looked better though, you have to consider we have only beaten two bad teams missing top players...

I need to see the effort vs SA.
