2014 plan

Post#1 » by wfiles » Tue Nov 27, 2012 7:35 pm

Why did the Lakers give a 3 year contract to Nash who will be 40 by then? They would have enough cap space for Dwight, LeBron, and another max free agent if Nash wasn't under contract.

Nash and his agent probably pushed for the extra year. It puts a slight dent into your 2014 summer but hey, we got Steve Nash. Can't complain.

I thought the 3rd year was a team option?

There's also the amnesty provision we could use by then if it doesn't work out.

Edit: My bad, he was S&Ted so no amnesty in this case I guess.

Correct me if I'm wrong dcash! :)

What's the incentive for Lebron to come to LA, much less leave Miami?

I keep hearing this from fellow Laker fans. Is it hopeful wishing or do you guys know something I don't? Because I'm not seeing it.

He texted me and said that they had to be Lakers under contract from the previous CBA.

Oh cool. There's the part about being signed after the new CBA as well.

I do not see the LeBron thing coming to fruition either, but it makes for good LA theatre.

The key is to capitalize on the window for Chips' that is open right now.

Kobe and Gasol come back for one more year. Rondo and Kevin Love in the 2015 plan.

ny and Chi will also be looking towards free agents in 2014 and 2015. Like someone said it will make for good NBA theater.

yeah there's really no point in talking about the 2014 plan when we have a grip of great players right now struggling to win some games.

but for what its worth, kyrie irving should be on the lakers radar.

I have my doubts of Nash playing in his 3rd contract year

I think he plays this season and the next and then calls it quits...the only way he'll play in his last contract year IMO is if we'd win 2 championships in a row and he's asked by everypne else to suit up for the 3-peat(which is a doubtful scenario to say the least)
