Saw this article posted on the Hornets game thread. You can see the way we play P&R defense... it sucks. No hedging (Dwight), no rotation (Kobe).

Sam Mitchell talks about P&R defense in following video. Not that he is a superb coach, but I agree with his philosophy. Our P&R defense need serious work.

Re: Lakers P&R Defense Discussion
i think this should be the full focus of our attention as fans when evaluating how the lakers are doing. too much worry about the offense, i myself an guilty of that. that'll take care of itself, especially when nash is back.
i guess its kinda encouraging that a lot of the defensive issues are a serious lack of effort. on a side note, it shows how bargs is such a miserable option for any team interested in playing any serious defense.

Re: Lakers P&R Defense Discussion
Dwight's been on point with the PnR defense, and helping out. It's that no one is helping the original helper (Dwight) that has been the problem. This is due to IQ, awareness, miscommunication, and/or athleticism.
You have to be more specific with "no rotations (Kobe)". Kobe is not the primary help defender during penetration. You don't want to give up open 3s or get caught sleeping on cuts. Its the bigs job to be primary help defenders, while the others "helps the helper". That's where Dwight was getting mad. No one is helping out on his man when Dwight helps out during initial penetration. Also, Kobe's terrible on ball reversals, broken plays (opp. offensive rebs), and against players who uses multiple screens. And sometimes he doesn't respect the opp. guards and lets them do whatever.
But we've been getting absolutely killed at PF position. You improve this position speed-wise, then you'll start seeing consistency in our defense.

Re: Lakers P&R Defense Discussion
Actually from the 1st link, I dont really think Dwight did a fantastic job in P&R defense. Yes, he did help, but he did not show/hedge the ball handler at all.
And of course no one helps when the big men rolls to the hole.
Our whole team needs to collectively get better at this.
