if phil jax was the coach i think we wouldve signed him. what this tells me is lakers FO dont trust the coach leadership in the locker room. to me that's the big picture

Or that he's simply not worth the potential headache.

just goes to show mitch is great at trades for big stars, but does not have a feel for acquiring quality role players

Why add confusion to people's roles on the team? If you added Delonte West Meeks position wouldn't be secure and then that would effect his play. Lets just be glad that roles are being defined in a short amount of time. I think they did the right thing.

D Fish and 1st for Jordan Hill
Evans for Ariza
Kapono could really work in this offense
Jamison
MWP signing
Sessions
...

On the flip side, It could also be the thing that lights a fire under Meeks and makes him play even better.

D.Morris is hitting some threes and running the floor pretty well. Plus he is young and the Lakers do not have a lot of youth.

I'm not a Delonte fan by any stretch of the imagination but I'm convinced if he were on our team we wouldn't get torched by opposing PG's nearly as often.

It is a mistake won/loss/playoff/championship wise to not sign Delonte, but if their decision is solely based on if they would have monitor his actions (like any employer should do) then I cannot argue that. He is bi-polar and that needs to be monitored.

What gets me is that with the Celtics and Doc Rivers, he never had any real issues. Like the OP said if the Lakers had Phil, I think Delonte would have been signed.

What will matter though is Nash and if he is able to play heavy minutes in the playoffs. Nash did play heavy minutes 6-7 years ago (around 40mpg) in the playoffs, but during his last playoff stint he only played 34 mpg in 16 games and that was 3 years ago. I wouldn't think the Lakers would expect him to play 40 mpg in the playoffs. I am not sure you will want to rely on Duhon, Meeks and Morris in the playoffs playing at least 20-25 minutes combined.

Lakers still need Delonte West.

Only piece that is needed to right the ship.

Would help if Pau gets more playing time and score more than 2 points. Talk about killing his trade value.

Its a shame that Delonte is not on the team. They desperately need his contributions.
