Dwight Howard ejection

Post#1 » by thegamefritz » Thu Dec 27, 2012 4:47 pm

dAMN THese refs!! and DAMN MORE TO DAVID STERN!! what has happened to the NBA? basketball is a full contact sport, there's always a chance that someone will get hurt (atleast not intentionally or no harm intended!!) if they don't want contact they should play chess!!

the highest penalty for that is a flagrant 1! but back in the days, that was a normal foul!! plus it was not TY LAWSON, it was the MANIMAL for heaven's sake!! that was nothing even if it was D12 who fouled him

Stop typing in caps. Seriously, its annoying!

I don't think he should have been thrown out, but it is up to interpretation by the refs and they saw indifferently. Those are the rules of the league now. I guess players and us fans just have to get use to them.

There's clearly a double standard in the league and right now the Lakers are not on the favorable side of the standard...

this shot by Wade breaks Kobe's nose and he's given a flagrant 1. Meanwhile Faried flops like a big pussy and has no injury to speak of whatsoever and Dwight gets ejected from the game. FU David Stern!!!

Faried flopping act when he hit the ground made it look worst that it was. It was a hard foul to the head, without going to the ball, but don't think it warranted a flagrant 2.

Seems like Gasol gets hit in the face every game without a call

its a clear ejection.

1. got hit in the head/face
2. not playing the ball
3. fell awkwardly

Yup I see howard get hit in the face and fouled where no one goes for the ball and they do not even call a flagrant 1.Double standard. It is a crap shoot but Howard needs to control himself instead of making fouls like these. If they are going to call this a flagrant 2 I want to see other similar plays called a flagrant 2.

C'mon Aki. You know better than to argue with someone who won't use logic.

Faried was a being a little flopper. At worst that should have been a Fragrant 1 foul.

$35K fine. The pussification of the NBA is in full swing. This wouldn't even be a foul in the 80's!

I don't get the $35k fine either. If they want to call it a flagrant 1, fine since I can see the ref's point. But that was just a hard foul which I don't think there was any real malice.

He was sending a message. Dudes been getting mauled all season. He was clearly frustrated but I like his toughness.

Which I think is fine in this case because Faried said he was trying to send a message too by going hard at Dwight and trying to dunk on him.
I think if a guy goes for a facial and gets knocked on his butt, it shouldn't be the same level of scrutiny as a guy going up for a simple layup or clear path dunk.

One guy's aggressively going at another guy trying to embarrass him with a nasty facial dunk, the other guy's aggressively denying that...

I'm in the flag 1 camp... But I understand why it was a Flag 2... I think the fine is random, just adds to the ambiguity of the situation, and seems discriminatory.

The applications of flagrant 1 and 2 fouls are very vague and no doubt descriminatory. Wade can go at Kobe's head and break his nose while Dwight can't make contact with a guy's head without being booted from the game and fined regardless of how little damage or pain the contact actually caused.

Faried 100000% embellished the severity of the impact bu the refs didn't even bother taking that into consideration. This after they said the league was going to make an effort to punish floppers. They should have worded heir statement differently and said they might punish some floppers but not others. It depends on Stern's mood that day. I wish that piece of **** would just retire already. Sure he's grown the popularity of the sport during his tenure as commish but he's done so at the cost of the integrity of the game.
