Who do you want as backup PG?

Post#1 » by GeneralNash » Fri Jan 25, 2013 8:59 pm

The one thing Lakers can improve right away is finding a good backup PG. A simple swap if you will. Need to get rid of duhon asap. Whoever guards duhon just sags off and lets him shoot. It is very bad...

duhon is shooting 37% from 3, so really good. 2nd or 3rd best on the team.

anyway, blake should be coming back in a week or two, so he'll get that spot.

He is already on the roster. He is Darius Morris. Duhon should never see the court again, Blake needs to earn the job, not be handed it.

Delonte West. He's not officially taken by the Grizz yet. We can still nab him.

I'm not a huge Steve Blake fan, but I think he's probably better than any of our current backups. I think we wait and see how he does first if we can before the deadline.

It is truly sad but Steve Blake is a significant upgrade over the current back ups..

Darius Morris is awful. I know we don't have any really young guys on our team anymore, but don't make the mistake of thinking he's even capable.

No one like any of the guys listed above. I'd go for the Phil special: a tall near SG who knows how to D up. Nash Kobe and Gasol all know how to run the offense.

Actually I'm anxious to get Blake back. Thing with him is he was never meant to be a starter, but in limited minutes he defends well and aggressively, runs the team decently, and isn't hesitant to shoot and mess up his %. I think he's way ahead of Duhon. Although I've seen a little improvement lately, before Nash was back I could not believe how bad of a defender Duhon was, and even though he hits a shot here and there and gets assists, he seems to do it in the most un impactful manner. I honestly think had we had Blake during the Nash injury and start of D'Antoni this team would have a few more wins and be a little better on track with the offense. Blake is probably the best post feeder we have.

That said, it would be nice if we could pick up someone via trade or FA that's better, though not a ton of options out there. Even if we move Pau I'd rather see depth in a PF/SF combo.

I don't know who else would be available for a smaller trade.

Why is Duhon still playing???

He is flat out garbage, he offers nothing offensively and defensively.

Dan Tony has been stupid playing this guy, he should be nailed to the bench.

I rather have Morris and Meeks off the bench, at least one plays good D and the other can get hot shooting at times

Steve Nash. I rather have Calderon, Lowry, Jack, Vasquez, Mo, Kidd start on this team to name a few. Nash would also fit acnon post up centric starting 5 where he could push the pace with Meeks and Clark

would really like to see us pick up scott machado. i think he has all the tools a starting caliber pg needs, he just needs the time and experience. no reason to keep morris on the roster when its obvious he has no real future in the nba other than as a spot up shooter (would be mildly surprised if he gets another contract after this one honestly).

if we're talking guys who i would like to see on this team that are at least somewhat realistic, id really like us to go after eric maynor.

Kyle Lowry, probably he is available.

Lakers in:
Lowry, Davis, Johnson, Fields
Lakers out:
Gasol, Jamison, Duhon, Ebanks
