upside to missing the POs and no 2013 pick

Post#1 » by Dr Aki » Wed Jan 30, 2013 1:39 am

this thread is meant to be light hearted take on this absurd absurd season. up is down, black is white, the mark jackson coached warriors are actually good, the clips are a true contender and the lakers are fighting (a losing battle) for that 8th seed despite having 4-6 HOFers (jamison, MWP could get in right?). everything that could've gone wrong, has gone wrong

to those of you who like me, have probably written the season off (i mean seriously, the average # of wins for an 8th seed in the west of recent years past is like 48 wins, we ain't getting there) i have good news.

we don't have our 2013 pick, if its lottery, it goes to the suns, if its non-lottery, it goes to the cavs, obviously that's not good news, but guess what?

the 2013 draft is going to be terribad, like historically bad, 2000 kmart/stromile swift/darius miles is the #1/#2/#3 picks bad

so all-in-all, even if we don't make the POs and phoenix has our lottery pick, they're not going to get better by much anytime soon. and we still have a 39-40 yo steve nash to show for it

This draft is not going to be bad. It actually will have some real solid players. There just ins't a Durant or Dwight in the draft.

oh great you know the future!

i'd like to know the winning lottery numbers to a pretty large jackpot, some great stock picks for the next ten-twenty years, when the cubs are going to win another world series, and when we'll get flying cars

thanks

nah, this will probably the worst draft in quite a while. no player is the clear cut consensus #1 pick, and that's not because there are multiples of great players to choose from. noel isn't the difference maker that i'm sure kentucky envisioned, kentucky's not even ranked anymore as a matter of act. cody zeller has cost himself millions by not declaring last year, instead he came back and has been exposed. shabazz has had some "okay" games at ucla but he hasn't looked nearly as dominant as he did in high school, he just hasn't transitioned to the college game that well at all. so no, this draft is going to be pretty bad. if any good is to come from it, it'll have to be a diamond in the rough type deal.

but even still, can't really be happy with this because we're not even supposed to be in this position. it's like coming in second place to someone who didn't even try and didn't know there was a race to begin with.

To anybody saying this draft isn't going to be bad. ....uhh yeah it is. There is no one I mean no one that's going to have a major impact on a team. It's full of role players but not stars. That's why I roll off these board's tracking the Lakers, you think the Lakers gave a damn about those picks? Hell no lurkers

apparently they didn't because we can't trade another one until possibly 2021.

Draft is very weak this year, but we pick in mid 2nd round and this is our chance to get some solid role player.

Lakers could have used there pick to flip it later for a player they could have used in this new system. Just because some experts say there is not a good player in the draft, does not mean all are crap.

yeh. even still we only own 3 picks in the next 6 years and there's a chance we might not even own the 2019 pick depending on the protections of the 2015 and 2017 picks.

I've grown accustomed to not being excited bout the draft anymore, we never have any 1st rd picks  only time we'll ever keep em is if its a lottery pick.
