The Lakers have been granted the disabled player's exception for Jordan Hill by the NBA. Kupchak says it gives LA flexibility if necessary.

So now that Mitch has a $1.8 disabled player exception to work with, who can we expect to sign? Or no move at all?

Anyone know if we can use that to absorb 1.8 more then someone in a trade? How does this exception work against the cap and tax etc? Is Jordan's money still counted? is it insured at all?

The Lakers can use the exception to add a player in the final year of their contract. A free-agent signing would be limited through the remainder of the season.

The exception does not allow the Lakers to add a 16th player; the roster limit of 15 remains intact. Currently, the team has 14 players under contract.

General Manager Mitch Kupchak acknowledged that the team may or may not use the exception, but that it could be used to help lubricate a larger trade.

so do you think ai would be a good signing for bench scoring and backup pg/sg? he could give kobe some ability to rest without worry...he could probably still be good for 7-10 ppg and 2-4 assts if he becomes a willing passer....i think it could go either way....it would be nice to see him win a ship....

if the lakers wanted iverson they could've just used a vet min contract on him at any time including now.

anywhoo, i would be shocked if the lakers had any interest in him at all. he has no place on this team.

I still wouldn't mind K mart for some insurance. He had a nice mid range J, could slash and finish, and was a good defender, basically a more defensive version of Jamison.

Buyouts could be interesting. If Detroit were to buyout Calderon... Think about this, Calderon as the backup PG running the second unit with his buddy Pau...

1.8, does not seem like a lot of money in todays game. I really do not see it being that much of a factor. It might never be used. I hope they do use it, but it will be for a minor trade or something like that.
