"I find myself talking sometimes and I can't believe what I just said," he says with a hearty laugh. "Realistically I have only one year left, so I'm trying to enjoy myself."

"Are you worried Howard might leave, jeopardizing a chance to win another ring, if he's not a fan of Mike D'Antoni's coaching?"

"Yeah, a little bit," Kobe says.

"Is D'Antoni the right coach?"

There's a long pause. "I don't think a coach becomes the right coach until he wins a championship. I don't think Erik Spoelstra was the right coach in Miami until he won. Phil Jackson was just some hippie coaching in Chicago with this weird offense."

I love that Kobe is finally at peace in his career.

Regarding Dwight, if Kobe is saying he doesn't know that Dwight is coming back, then it seems Dwight is likely as good as gone. Make's me wonder what our record would be this year minus Dwight. Not sure it'd be much different than it is now

that article almost made me shed a tear, the end is very near. It's exciting to see him finally at this point mentally, but it's sad still. Just glad I won't have to see another favorite player **** on his legacy. That Wizard Jordan was a tough pill to swallow. He looked almost 10 years older when he put the jersey on, compared to 98. Sad times may be coming and that's alright, the memories are well worth it... for now. We're not here to be the Raps are we

its true.

spo was continually under fire til he won
doc was continually under fire til he won

that said, the reverse is true, just look at avery, SVG, MDA, who have gotten close but have various criticisms leveled at them. its just easier to find faults with losers than it is with winners

I don't know why these writers try to get other players to guess if another player is going to stay when it's well known he can be a free agent. It's not Kobe's job to sway Dwight, if Dwight leaves he leaves......management knew full well the risk in that anyway.

If you bring in a player of that caliber you do the things to show him you're willing to accommodate him by whatever means. The Lakers needs a coach that would utilize bigs, Nate McMillan was sitting there. He runs the exact type of offense this team can function in.

Imagine if we had gone Bynum for Marc+Tony Allen

Could have hired B. Shaw and brought back the Triangle:
Marc/Hill
Pau/Jamison
Clark/Ron
Kobe/Allen
Nash/Blake

Maybe that is why keeping pau is of utmost importance just in case dwight leaves. Pau has shown he can be that 20 points and 12 rebounds guy these past few games. Pau allows the lakers with kobe to compete next season even if dwight leaves especially with earl clark coming to form.

Also will say I do not buy this is kobe's last year. He has three good years left as far as I am concerned. I think Nash needs to start thinking about retirement...I mean he will be pushing 40 next season. That is crazy....inspirational...but crazy.

He sucks the sweat out of his jersey. I finally get it. I thought it was a snake behind the curtain trick or something mental. LOL

Makes gross sense.
