Pau Gasol felt a pop in the bottom of his foot during the Los Angeles Lakers' 92-83 win at the Brooklyn Nets.

Gasol will have an MRI on Wednesday and the fear is that he tore his plantar fascia.

Gasol left the arena on crutches.

torn plantar fascia isn't the worst thing. i posted a link that talked about rip hamilton dealing with the same injury in december, he was out 3.5 weeks. actually might be a good thing, like kobe mentioned, so that its no longer nagging pau and it completely heals.

How does that effect his trade value though?... effect our playoff chances. We're already without Dwight. Damn.

Trade deadline is 2 weeks away, so I guess Gasol could return a couple weeks after that... still though

It can take up to 7 to 12 weeks to heal. A tear can be very different for different players and it can cause tremendous trouble to a big man.

From Sam Smith of Bulls.com:

It turns out Richard Hamilton tore his plantar fascia in his left foot late in the third quarter of the Bulls Saturday night win over the 76ers, according to Bulls sources.

But that’s sort of the good news.

Plantar fasciitis, the painful inflammation on the bottom of the foot, can last months. At times, treatment will include a tear so the healing can begin more quickly. Thus, this is not generally considered as serious an injury and Hamilton could play again in a week or two.

Should've had his ass in shape this year. Coming into the season @ 275lbs. Unnecessary stress on his feet/knees. Now this

I would guess a significant hit. The teams that would be interested in Gasol would be teams that are looking to contend this year. But if he's out for a few weeks (let's say 15 games) you would need to have a team that would be good enough to be on track of making the playoffs (at the seed they want) without Gasol and without the players they give up.

So, unless the Lakers fear about not making the playoffs and really want to make a push for this season and accept a deal they would not have considered yesterday...what kind of a deal do you really think would work out for both parties.

Well Kevin Love is out too. Couple injured players swapped? Atlanta's in a decent position playoff wise as well. Philly won't be catching them. I guess the same teams are kinda still in play. Minnesota would probably still be interested. I dunno. Unbelievable.

So who's starting for you guys moving forward over Pau? Jamison?

I can't see D'Antoni wanting to move Bryant to SF and MWP to PF but he's done it before with Meeks at SG.. I don't think that is the most effective small ball lineup, Kobe takes too much of a punishment against all the bruising SFs in the league and you guys would get dominated on the boards/inside if Earl Clark is at C/MWP at PF.

Probably makes most sense to run the Nash/Bryant/MWP/Jamison/Clark lineup.. defensively speaking looks like it's going to be a struggle..

If it was up to Hermes we would trade Howard for Lopez.

Lakers only have Sacre as a true center. can't risk Earl playing out of position for a long stretch. Mike will probably experiment with him as part time C for a couple of games but if it doesn't work I believe they'll sign a big.

who's out there? Milicic is in Europe. Miller retired. so

KMart
Oden
Harrellson
Murphy
Fesenko
Gadzuric
Magloire
Diogu
Brockman
Moore

former Lakers

Mbenga
Powell
Aguilar
Somogyi

damn.

Celtics don't really have a true C either with KG manning the 5, so I think we'd be ok if Clark started at center on Thursday. Is Biyombo the Bobcats center? He's a nonfactor offensively. If Mullens is back, all he does is float on the perimeter and we could probably stick Metta on him like we did before. Diop or Haywood? LOL. Miami is similar to Boston-they have Bosh at C. We would definitely need at least one of our two bigs back for that matchup though, just because we wouldn't win trying to outrun the Heat.

I'm not saying Clark can't play C. if we look at it from the Lakers perspective, offensively they are in an advantage. Clark can take out KG and Bosh out of the paint and it can clear the lane for the rest of the guys (Nash-Jamison PnR, Kobe drives, etc). I'm just concerned with Clark's defense. he has the length and the size but does he have the strength? he "contained" Lopez though bigger and stronger but the stronger and more agile C's like KG and Bosh?

Jamison needs to step it up more just like Clark. Sacre right now is limited but Twan and Clark, we know they can be more than capable given the opportunity.
