With Pau done for at least six week who is avaliable for the lakers , that at least can hold the fork for the next 6 weeks... And would this injury push the lakers to a trade?

I'm starting to wonder if a Dwight trade really does make the most sense.

Pau actually does fit D'antoni's offense better than Dwight because of his skill and versatility. Pau just sucks defensively for the most part. But what if Kupchak could flip Dwight for Noah/Deng and maybe a future 1st round draft pick? Noah is in the Tyson Chandler mold and he doesn't demand the ball offensively, so he'd fit in with Pau ( or Love in the future ) better than Dwight I'd say. Noah's more of a blue collar player in his heart and he plays harder than probably anybody... he could defend the top PFs. Deng could help out at forward with Clark and MWP. Deng's contract expires after next season too.

I'm just sayin. Something to think about. I don't think Dwight's leaving in free agency or anything, but Noah's contract is pretty nice @ 12mill per... add that to Nash's 9mill and the upcoming cap space... maybe room to add Dirk in '14 or wait it out for Love in '15 ( or move Gasol for Love next year and lock him in), pay Clark and keep him around @ SF... find a SG... maybe Mayo ( or bring Kobe back ). Noah + Nash + Love + Kobe + Clark = around 59mill

I have been saying this all season. However, most people seem to think that keeping Dwight would lead to us winning a championship or getting other superstars to join.

Dwight Howard has been privately told on repeated occasions by Mitch Kupchak that the Los Angeles Lakers will not trade him

i honestly don't know why this is still being brought up as a viable option.

also, to trade dwight means we're stuck with d'antoni. i'd rather be stuck with an idiot that can put up 20/10 nightly when healthy than an idiot who isn't even good at his job.

anyway to answer the question op, i don't mean to sound half-assed but there's literally no one other than kenyon martin. and i'm willing to bet there's more than a good reason why he's still available.

word, i don't hate mda, just don't think he's the right man for the job although i think this is the most i've seen him adjust in his career.

Why is Kupchak telling Dwight that he's not going to trade him on repeated occasions though? Has Dwight been asking for trades? That's the way I read that.

You read into a lot. Maybe pickup a book for two weeks and by the time you set it down you'll know if we've made the blockbuster trades you've been envisioning.

i believe it's more of a reassuring thing more than mitch having to say it. go listen to stephen a smith's unedited interview with howard, you get the sense he actually wants to be here.

This is true. It's changed my stance a little.

I'm thinking Kenyon Martin is the best option. I think he's wanting a bigger contract than he is worth and that's why he hasn't been signed. We're kinda of in need for another big. If Dwight is willing to play through his injury, then I wouldn't so against going after Yi Jialin or however you spell it to spread the floor off the bench or Craig Brackins as a hustle guy. I mean they're nothing special, but pretty much the best options outside of Martin.

I feel like Ron Burgundy ... wow, that escalated quickly. It took one trade Dwight Post to completely throw off this entire thread.

-We weren't going to trade Dwight. And now with Pau's injury ... there is a 0% chance we are trading him. So drop it.

-We were just awarded a partial salary exemption on losing Jordan Hill.

So ...

Is that Jermaine O'neal (phx) music I hear?

I think Blake plus all of our exemptions might add up to the 1 year of Kaman ($8m). Not sure though.

Should be fun.

Josh Harrellson, Kenyon Martin, DJ Mbenga, Sean Williams, Jerome Jordan, Hassan Whiteside off the top of my head.

Go small ball, this is what Nash flourished under, just spread the floor and let Diantoni do his thing

I can get behind that.

But as far as blaming D'antoni, na. The guy took a tough job on the fly. It's not D'antoni's fault that Dwight has minimal post game and is more likely a 3rd option on a title team. It's not D'antoni's fault that Dwight can't make free throws. It's not D'antoni's fault that Dwight gets stripped half the time before getting a shot off. Too much blaming D'antoni's system when Phil also opted to go with a stretch 4 in Odom.

The question still remains, will Dwight be worth 22mill per or so as a guy who's more likely a 3rd option on a title team, but thinks in his own mind that he's a #1 option? That's 10mill more than a Noah, who's really good defensively and not as good as Dwight offensively, but he doesn't think he's a #1 option and he's a great passer and he hits his free throws. I get that the Lakers are box office and need big names, but they're also about winning. If Kevin Love does find his way to LAL, Noah may be a better fit with him as an all-star caliber Chandler-like player who'll do the dirty work. Without Phil around to massage egos Kupchak needs to think more about fit.

hii brings up some good points....if dwight hits half his free throws...kobe doesn't miss a few...pau doesnt go cold from the free throw line a few times....and we're .500 + maybe....i mean dantoni has been doing a pretty decent job with what he's been given recently...and he is coming around to def...and he's utilizing timeouts.....but i think kenyon can somewhat fill the void of pau if we sign him....i mean not everything can be blamed on dantoni now...not to say he's the right coach for us....but can't blame him for everything....

My vote is for Kenyon. He can play Dantoni ball.

Harrelson would be my other choice. Harrelson would be cheaper built like luggage. Tough guy down low and all hustle. I think Kobe could turn dude into the Reggie Evans 2.0
