Where is Kobe going in 2014 summer

Post#1 » by StatAintLie » Wed Feb 20, 2013 7:06 am

We all know Kobe is Jerry Buss' favorite kid and Dr. Buss gives Kobe a 30 million salary.

But obviously most rational fans knows technically Kobe does not worth so much, seeing all his bad shoot selection or invulnerable defense in clutch time in the last playoff and enough in this season. All these not only hurts the team but more importantly it shows Kobe is not young anymore.

So, I believe there is no way for him to get a big pay in the next period of his game. Moreover, the possibility that Lakers keeps Howard is pretty big and apparently DH will be the franchise player in the next term.

But we all know what kind of person Kobe is. Can he really accept the role of sidekick to help Howard? Or even a sixth man? Kobe has never been a good team leader, even though he tries to all the time. The role of sidekick or sixth man could be harmful to the team's chemistry and atmosphere in lock room.

Trade does not seem to be possible as Kobe's salary is just too high for other teams to match.

So, what do you think Kobe will do in the next period?

Guys please be rational. I know you love Kobe and Lakers, but what happens now tells it nearly impossible for Lakers to go through 1st round playoff or even to make 8th seed successfully.

He's not going to get 30 mil anymore. I think he'll get a KG like contract. I'm sure some team will offer him that. The jersey sale alone will be great, even at that stage of Kobe's career to make it worth signing him. I hope that doesn't happen though. Laker for life!

Stopped reading at "he's never been a good team leader"

Never a good thing to discuss with a person who blindly uses absolutes in argument.
Kobe Bryant forever
GO LAKERS
8-)
I've heard it through the grapevine..NBA gods have already designated Los Angeles LAKERS as NBA Champions in near future. The destiny is real. TRUST ME.

So dear please tell me when was Kobe a good team leader?

During his early career the leader was Shaq. In 03-04 Kobe was trying to take the leadership but finally it hurts the team. From 05-07 Kobe was the leader but the result of his leadership was either no playoff or just 1st round. After that Lakers gets Gasol as the core of Triple post offense and the core of defense on the court while having Derek Fisher as the leader off the court. And since Fisher has gone Lakers was swept twice in the last two playoffs.

Edited:
Moreover, a good leader is not supposed to
1) refuse to shoot just because he is criticized
2) ask for the trade but soon refuse the trade
3) keep shooting even through he has missed 30 shots
4) push the manager to trade his teammates

And your statement itself is a paradox.

Fisher was still here when they got swept the first time. And leadership doesn't mean you have to get a good record. It means how you lead your team.

With what you're saying, you're implying that Nash was a bad leader in Phoenix cuz he never won a chip.

I have never said that the championship is the only thing determine whether a player is a good leader. Nash's leadership is generally admitted.

When Nash was in Suns he was a role model of others. At the time when Amare was down, Nash took the responsibility and helped his teammates to be better. Under Nash's leadership, Joe Johnson developed into an All-star shooting guard, Barbosa won sixth man of the year, Amare made the all nba 1st team....

FYI Jordan asked his teammates to be traded. So I guess he's a bad leader

Simply make one of the above doesn't necessarily means MJ is a bad leader. And there are more than 4 listed here.

And since I am a relatively young fan who did not experience the greatness of MJ, could you please tell me something about Jordan's will to trade his teammate? I search through the web but get no result.

I read somewhere that he did, I'm assuming it's Cartwright since they hated each other. Jordan constantly mocking him and what nots. I could be wrong though.

Oh I see.

Jordan was mad at Cartwright because Jordan thought Cartwright was the cause of his friend Oakley's leaving. But Jordan didnt seem to ask for trading Cartwright as Cartwright left Bulls after Jordan's first retirement as a free agent.

Kobe will go to Vanessa after 2014 (some of you may know where I am going with this).

I would like to see Kobe retire as a member of the Lakers. But I woulnd't mind him going to Miami and playing a few years there and helping LeBron, Wade and Bosh.
