That was a very clever play. Did anyone notice Dwight's reaction? Lol seemed like he was imitating Kobe's face and then laughed about it with Jamison. Maybe I'm looking too much into it

nah, just pure stupidity from the hornets
i mean, did they think the lakers would run to their defensive end?

It was not actually the play MDA drew up. Because of where the Lakers had last dribbled the ball determined where it was to be taken out and there was some confusion about that from both teams then Kobe and Blake realized this this and the accidental play is what we got

is this the play where d12 went out there and had to run his ass off to avoid making it 6 men on the court?

I wouldn't call it a trick as much as a bunch of NBA players not realizing what half of the court that they were defending (which is really pathetic). The Heat or Thunder would have, for sure, had at least 1 player back on D in addition to lining up on the right side of the Lakers for defense.

I was just surprised by the scale of that blunder tbh. If Monty Williams told them to do that, he has no business being an NBA coach. You always protect the path between the offensive player and the basket and not play ball denial that far away.

from hearing MWP interview yesterday I think Pelican players were truly confused, they didn't realize or forgot that we weren't shooting that side of the basket.

I heard MWP yesterday on Max and Marcellus, something about MDA saw an opportunity to take advantage of a young Hornets team.
He didn't draw up Kobe sprinting to the other basket but there was some sort of idea to go along with them in bounding under the Hornets basket.
Steve saw the opportunity and hit Kobe.

No the only confusion was on the Hornets part. Anybody who's played ball at some level knows that on an inbound play you have to defend your basket. The Hornets weren't defending their basket it's that simple. Mike drew up the "stack" to get either Nash or Kobe free, once Kobe and Blake realized how they lined up Kobe made his bee line for the basket the Hornets were suppose to be defending. Agree it was totally accidental.

It was clever. But D'Antoni almost cost us the game tonight by sticking with Meeks on the defensive end. His loyalty to small-ball and offense just doesn't fit our style.

Keeping this thread going, how about that 3 point play he drew up for Kobe that was made on the sideline by the Raptors bench. That was huge, I remember we struggled mightily with those sequences under Phil.
