Since all the picks - IIRC - have been dealt, I thought we could use a thread for noting guys who make an impression during the NCAA tourney.

To start, how about this lad? A deadeye long range shooter, which would be nice to have on a rookie deal, and see how he comes along.

Good BB IQ, seems ot be a good kid so no drama

Michael Snaer, SG, Moreno Valley wassup. I also really like Carrick Felix and Zeke Marshall. I'll give a scouting report when I have more free time.

Is that Southerland guy from Syracuse a 2nd rounder?

This says it all for me.......

" He's a prototypical tweener, with neither the size nor skill set to play power forward in the NBA. He doesn't have a sufficient face-up game to play small forward either. His handle is suspect and can't take more than three dribbles without losing control of the rock.

But, man, the kid can shoot."

At 6'8" that's a problem especially for the NBA, because if he lacks the skill set to play the interior and lacks SF skills then how are we going to use him ? It's these type of players that Mitch has keep latching on to and it's costing us. First it was Ebanks then Goudelock, we need players that we can plug up and go right away.

Yes we need shooting, but Southerland is just Derrick Williams all over again.

Another player to watch is Shane Larkin from Miami, the kid can ball and will be a good lead guard in the league.

So that's basically what Rashard Lewis has become, off late. I can take that for a 2nd round pick

The guy just got a quick trigger though, reminds me of Meeks and not constrained to any one point of the floor to get his shot off. If he can strengthen his base, he can be pretty fine as a defensive minded PF with shooting ability.

@ Slava, I wouldn't have a problem with him if he fell to us. I do think my post was a bit harsh in term of I've seen from him. It's just usually tweeners at the NBA level struggle a bit in those first couple of seasons as we can see with Williams of the T-Wolves. For me at 6'8" if he can grasp the 3 spot well enough then it's possible we can land a sleeper/ steal player in that round. As far as the 4, he may be a bit undersized now especially with how the 4 is being played today. But his shooting on the other end would make up for it I guess.

Bottom line is this we need an injection of youth and athleticism at all cost, if the 2nd round is supplying that then I'm for it. We're really in no position to be picky, so I check myself on that one.

No-one expects him to go in the first, and maybe not even in the second, depending how he plays in the tourny

But - he's 6'8", good athleticism, alleged to be a smart coachable player and a sniper - he can be taught defense.

Yes - there's gold to be had in the second round and it's a cheap bet.

Would love to see Scott Machado here

i was on the machado bandwagon before it even existed. like we dont even need to draft anyone he would be clearly better than anyone we could get in thee second round.

He's not really a sniper, just shot well as of late... it'd be like drafting Earl Clark as a rookie with an ever so slightly better perimeter shot and no rebounding ability. Southerland can't play inside and really seems to avoid it in all the games I've seen from him over the past few years of watching big east play.

I'd be good with Doug McDermott and Isaiah Canaan

We have 2 2nd round picks this year

We have our own pick and Mem 2nd round pick(although it's top 55 protected)...it's good for now but if Memphis fall a little bit more they'll keep it

So yeah,it's not certain ......

Syracuse always does well in the big east tourney then gets crapped on in the dance (like most big east teams the past few years). ACC THOUGH - WE'LL BE THERE NEXT YEAR.

It amazes me when people throw out names for second round picks. You guys are nuts. It takes a certain amount of dedication to be such a fan of both college and pro ball. It doesn't help me that I didn't go to college in America so I don't really have a team (I guess UCI lol or UCLA).
