Will Lakers win their 17th championship with the Black Mamba?

I suppose odds would be based on how long Kobe plans to stay in the league.

I for one am at a resounding yes. The Lakers right now, can even win this season. Some might see it as a stretch, but Lakers have pulled out some tough wins as of late, and Kobe's determination and will has been a big reason for it. Kobe is very healthy this year, and with Dwight and Pau showing why they are the best big men, and big man duo in the game, sky is the limit. When Nash gets back as well, he will add another dimension.

Next season will be tough because the question is will Dwight return to LA? Will Pau and Metta return to LA? Will Nash retire after this season? So many questions up in the air for next season, that as crazy as it would sound, this season might be Kobe's best chance.

The Lakers will win it all this year. Kobe will retire, we'll suck next season and then draft Wiggins and sign Lebron and another FA. Dynasty continues.

I truly believe we will still win it all this year. People are to consumed by our record and our horrible play to realize the personnel we have on this team. All we need is for our team to mesh better than we have all season and we can dominate.

Maybe the lack of meshing is the reason people have been extremely doubtful....

We aren't going to magically mesh once the playoffs start. Everyone here wishes that but it ain't happening.

No. My feeling would be Dwight leaves in the offseason once the emotions cool down from the Lakers season ending in disappointment. He'll be reminded "this is the injury Rose got, and Kobe is 34." That will trigger the end game of the Lakers doing a quick rebuild (tank and cap space, plus Pau and Nash for picks), which means the next Lakers title is more realistically 3-4 years down the road even with some luck (Wiggins, etc). Kobe will be gone by then.

Screw you. Dwight is going to stay because he knows this organization is all about championships, and Pau is going to stay because Dwight and Gasol have shown they can be pretty dominant when healthy. The Lakers will go through those two. To me Dwight is part of the Lakers family. In my heart I feel Kobe will come back strong. But if this is the new chapter with Dwight I'm going to support it as well. Dwight will stay hater.

Rose tore an ACL - that's not as serious as an Achilles. And your scenario is utter crap. Howard will be back for sure. Go back to your cave.

Get some lotion and Kleenex and a pic of that avi, find a dark spot in your cave and have at it ! The release will hold you over.

Wish I never made this thread. But Kobe will come back next season with a vengeance and a 6th title is not out of the question. If chauncey came back kobe will as well. It could be the greatest comeback for an athlete in history...guys. Lakers just need to improve the roster by the time he comes back. And when he does come back we just need to learn a lesson and manage minutes better. No reason any player should play the whole game.
