CAMDEN, N.J. -- Kobe Bryant is in a court battle to try to keep his mother from auctioning off mementos from his high school days in Pennsylvania and his early NBA career.
Bryant contends that his mother, Pamela Bryant, doesn't have the right to sell the collectibles, including his Lower Merion High School letters, a 2000 NBA championship ring and hundreds of other items.

I mean WTF?!?!? One would think Kobe would have his mother living in good enough conditions. Seems like a dumb question but.... Why would she try and sell his son's collectibles so badly???

That's sad, Kobe paid for that 2000 ring to be custom made for his mom.

Kobe's relationship with his parents has always been rocky I believe. They never liked Vanessa.

I will never sue my mom...it's just me.
granted i don't know Kobe's mom and i don't know there relationship.
But 2.1 million is nothing to Kobe....but i hope it all end's well. You only get 1 mom.

The article made it seem like he didn't sue yet, but just sent a cease-and-desist aka a warning to sue. He may not know about it, there's a good chance his lawyer just handles it.
If you ever watch an interview with a rapper when they bring up lawsuits most of the time they're like "possibly that's true, i don't deal with that stuff I have people that handle that."

Why didn't the mom ask Kobe first if she could auction them off? She's so wrong for this.

kobe should be ashamed of himself. You only have 1 mother, but you have tons of money. What is 450,000 dollars home worth to him? (that's the reported value that his mom wants to buy a house with the money she's auctioning of)
Seriously, you buy your wife a ring worth in the millions, yet you can't give your mom 450,000 after she raised you? kobe should be ashamed, and all you kobe supports on this should be ashamed of yourself

I guess buying your Mom not one but two houses isn't enough. Nor is offering her $250,000 toward the new house she wanted.
A source told ESPN that Kobe Bryant offered to pay his mother up $250,000 toward a home she wanted.
She refused, saying she wanted $450,000. When Kobe Bryant turned her down, the source said that unbeknownst to Kobe Bryant she struck a deal to get the $450,000 advanced through the auction company.

This doesn't seem to be about the money but more about the memorabilia/memories attached to the items Kobe's mom is trying to auction.

It's Kobe's things. He has a right to say what could be sold or not. His mother didn't accomplish anything in the NBA, its all Kobe.
What would Joe Bryant do if his wife was selling all the old jerseys, basketball cards, and other materials away just for some cash?
Kobe's mom is wrong in this all the way.

What type of parent are you that the child you raised takes you to court? Outstanding parents don't have this problem. Good parents raise good kids.

The source said Kobe Bryant was unaware that his memorabilia was being auctioned until hours before the auction company released the news of the sale.
Sources close to Kobe Bryant confirmed to ESPNLosAngeles.com that before learning about the auction through news reports, the Lakers star has given his parents "millions of dollars in financial assistance" throughout his 17-year career.
Bryant's parents decided to sell his high school memorabilia without his consent in order to purchase an additional home, sources said. Bryant offered to buy a house for his parents, but they wanted a larger one. a larger one.
Yeah **** that.... just because she's his mother doesn't give her the right to expect a boat load of money, even though Kobe has more than enough
250k is not enough now?Without having to work for it,just because she gave him life ?
