Phil still open to coaching, favorites tweet

Post#1 » by AI » Wed May 8, 2013 4:01 am

Ramona Shelburne ‏@ramonashelburne 17m
Phil turned down Nets, but source tells ESPN he's still open to possibility of coaching if he "has say in the roster."

Phil then favorited this reply to Ramona Shelburne's tweet:

Lakers PITP ‏@chawonshik 13m
@ramonashelburne which makes perfect sense Would love to see a team that @PhilJackson11 puts together @Lakers should really think about it

Yes, that's right, Phil favorites that tweet from that random writer who is not popular whatsoever (like 56 followers).

I know it's a long shot with Buss Jr., but this at least gives me some hope. What do you guys think?

Let's bring the whole band back together then eh? We'll sign Luke, Farmar, Sasha, Fish, DJ, Josh Powell, and Lamar. RINGS BABY RINGS!

I agree with what you're saying. I don't understand why there is such a bad dynamic between the two. The team is Jim's to run. Phil would be the coach. Jim is in a higher position, so there's no need for that animosity. I just don't understand it. No need to claim your ego over him by making your team suffer and hiring a craptastic coach. This is why I wish Jeanie handled both the business side and the basketball ops side of the Lakers.

I just can't see us firing MDA without giving him a fair shot next season.

I love Phil, and he's one of the greatest coaches of all time, but I just think the circumstances are difficult right now as far as the Lakers go.

unfreakinbelievable.

We are still hanging on with Dantoni, and there is a coach out there still available, who has multiple championships. The last time we pursued this individual, WE SAID NO, NOT the multiple time champion coach.

Funny enough, we could bring the band back together for a run.

Fish is a free agent, Farmar and Sasha are looking to return to the league, Odom is going to be looking at the vet min, and Luke after a useful resurgence is also looking at a vet min. Hell even Shannon is available for a year. I wouldn't object sadly, least that team would be likable before entering 2014 free agency

As someone (can't remember who to give credit) why not bring Phil in as team president? MDA can remain coach, Mitch can remain GM, and if things go sideways with MDA, Phil can come downstairs to coach.

I bet Dwight would make his decision a lot quicker if Phil became coach.

Multiple makes it seem like he has 2-3. The guy has 11. Meanwhile, D'Antoni reached the Western Conference Finals twice, and the Lakers didn't even use his system this season due to it not jiving with their older roster. This is a no-brainer, sign Phil already.

Honestly,

I'm for this and even resigning Lamar to come off the bench. We really never replaced his intangibles and versitality. Kobe always knew how to get the most out of Lamar during the 3 final run. Bring Phil back into the fold. But be warned if this happens I'm pretty sure there will be some clashing between him and Mike D if he's still the head coach

I guess we'll see how much pressure Dwight's camp can put on the Lakers...

I honestly have a hard time seeing Phil come back at this point. Before MDA it seemed like a no-brainer, but now it seems super complicated.
