Lakers Re-Sign Robert Sacre
July 10 at 1:29pm CST By Luke Adams

1:29pm: Sacre will get a fully guaranteed, multiyear deal from the Lakers, according to Shams Charania of RealGM.com (via Twitter). I'd expect it to be for the minimum salary, but that's still a little unexpected, considering Sacre's limited role and the Lakers' reluctance to add guaranteed salary for 2014/15.

1:15pm: The Lakers have re-signed 2012 second-round pick Robert Sacre, according to Mike Trudell of Lakers.com (via Twitter). The team had extended a qualifying offer to Sacre in June, so I wouldn't be surprised if the 24-year-old simply accepted that one-year offer, worth $988,872.

During his rookie season in 2012/13, Sacre split time between the Lakers and the D-League's D-Fenders. In 32 NBA games, the seven-footer averaged 1.3 PPG and 0.8 RPG, appearing in just 6.3 minutes per contest. In his seven D-League appearances, Sacre's averages increased to 11.4 PPG, 8.4 RPG, and 32.7 MPG.

Am I totally missing something with this guy that the Lakers are seeing? We did not even offer Goudelock a summer league invite after playing well against the Spurs and the Bald Jesus gets a guaranteed multiyear deal?

Decent signing, Sacre showed he's got a nice offensive game on the D Fenders. Struggled with foul trouble occasionally but that's to be expected as a rook.

I like Sacre's toughness. He accepts whatever role that is given to him. Good signing.

sacre is the typical 12th man on the roster big man making minimum salary, what more is there to it? helps he's a super cheerleader on the bench, probably great for team chemistry.

I don't really think myself or Slava for that matter are concerned about the pay he's getting. I would rather have that twelfth man be someone that would be able to contribute if possible.

Glock has contributed, Sacre won't, he's honestly just a wasted roster spot with a guaranteed deal.

Having a hard working, enthusiastic, high character locker room, seven footer on the roster for the minimum salary is not a bad thing at all.

I think you ask most teams if they would want a big guy for 1 mil a year who is going to work his butt off and do whatever role you ask him to do, most would take that guy.

lakers can sign up to 15 players if they want. i don't think sacre being on board has anything to do with g-lock.

Sacre on a minimum deal is fine. He's a serviceable big that can play a few minutes here and there if there are injuries, an outstanding teammate/cheerleader, and I'm sure a valuable practice big to go up against (ala Mbenga).

I know but remember deadweight became an issue last season when the team was dropping like flies. We didn't sign a backup big or pg because the roster was full.

If we keep additional roster spots open that would be fine but it doesn't make sense to have Pau, Kaman, Hill, Sacre, Kelly and possibly Odom taking up 6 of the 15 spots and we know Sacre is useless if called upon.

... i like Glock but i can understand this move ... we are loaded right now with guards that's why we let go of Glock ... maybe it because even if he is good offensively his D is a suspect ... he is an undersized SG and not good enough handle to be a PG ... maybe that's why we have to let him go ... on the other hand Sacre is a legit 7 foot big man and can be our 3rd C ...

... with this move (Sacre signing) and the Josh Powell rumor i have a feeling that we'll be losing Jordan Hill via trade for a SF ...

sacre's deal doesn't really change anything. next yr on the cap the lakers get charged a minimum salary cap hold for any open spots on the roster up to 12, so replacing one of those cap holds with sacre's minimum salary is negligible.

yeah, i think it was more for the mmle. it might also matter for minimum salaries for players with way more yrs of experience than sacre. minimum salary for a 1 yr player like sacre is a lot less (relatively speaking) than that of a 10 yr bet.

Hasn't shown anything on the court worth celebrating, but few big men come in knowing how to go to work. i do however, love his energy, attitude and they way as mentioned, hes willing to take any role the team asks and always seem to do with a sense of accomplishment, i like that! I love this signing tbh big man with his traits we've mentioned on a min salary is mos def ok in my book.
