For the past five years, ESPN's NBA Summer Forecast series has reportedly produced the most accurate predictions in the game. And for two years running, ESPN's #NBArank feature has been based on the ESPN Forecast approach to generating state-of-the-art information and opinion.

Kobe should be mad at Jim Buss and not ESPN, Lakers roster and coach screams mediocrity and a 9th seed at best if Kobe is healthier than expected, right now, I'd put the Lakers 11th ahead of the Pelicans, but under Denver, Minnesota, Dallas and Portland for sure.

ESPN keeps underrating Nowitzki as always, Nowitzki+10 scrubs has always won +50 games, and he's healthy again, they'll see.

On the other hand Kobe, Kobe has struggled to put the Lakers in PO picture when they have bad teams, in the clutch and in the PO race, he is a monster, during the RS? there are better leaders, obviously big men are more valuable to stablish a solid winning team.

It's not exactly unfair. There are plenty of teams with a better case than the Lakers, more than 7 certainly, which makes me wonder if the Lakers will bow to the inevitable as the season goes on, and do some light tanking for a slightly better spot.

Man i hope we stay healthy.... This roster can surprise ALOT of people if we do. And that's not out the realm of possibility that we do. Embrace the underdog role this season fellow Lakers fans. This can get interesting

Given next years crop of talent in the draft, I'm not bothered whatsoever with how outsiders perceive the season to go.

Let the butt hurt commence if we come out of next year with a top 3 pick. Win the lottery and I'm getting drunk.

Assuming we stay healthy, we are going to surprise ALLOT of teams... We have a better point guard, small forward and shooting guard rotation and more depth than last year... Kaman will put up decent numbers... Don't under estimate chemistry... We are better than Portland, Minnesota and Dallas... I personally think Golden State, Denver and Memphis will lose a step...

When did Dirk had 10 scrubs on his team?

Dirk doesn't have 10+ scrubs on his team. I believe Monte Ellis is there, Shawn Marion, Jose Calderon etc.

Now, don't say " the lakers are going to surprise a lot of people" because they aren't. First six seeds are already locked in. SAS OKC LAC HOU GSW MEM. Lakers are not going to have a better record then those teams barring catastrophic injury. Then you have Denver who won 57 games last year albeit iggy is now gone I see them in the 6/7/8 slots. That's around where i see the lakers coming in, somewhere around the 7/8/9 battling for a playoff spot with Portland, Minnesota and Dallas. Making the playoffs as a 7/8 seed I don't think would be surprising people. I imagine Mitch and co might make a deal come the trade deadline depending on how the season is going at that time. If the Lakers are hovering around the 10/11 spot at the deadline I would imagine Mitch would try to get rid of Nash and his contract to a contender for draft picks perhaps. If they are somehow at 6/7 seed who knows maybe Mitch pulls off a "Pau gasol for Kwame/Marc gasol" type deal

that forecast is taking into account the uncertainty of when kobe returns though so from that standpoint it's somewhat accurate.

if we're going to be playing 12th seed ball, I hope we shut down and tank the last 1/3 of the season.
