Seems the Lakers F.O. see's exactly what were seeing with Steve Nash. According to Sam Amico, he's hearing from an Eastern conference exec. that were dangling Pau Gasol again looking for a legit starting PG.
http://www.foxsportsohio.com/story/amico-report-sam-amicos-nba-news--rumors?blockID=950513&feedID=3724Man I hope this is just a rumor. Pau is still an ELITE starting Center in todays NBA. You dont move a big for a little unless your getting a young creme of the crop PG and I know we're not gonna get an Elite PG. Lets just stay PAT and use the 3 headed PG's we have and hopefully resign Pau at a much reasonable contract. I really dont like the idea of this
EDIT: If I had to guess I'd presume it would be Rajon Rondo. But why would we gamble on a PG coming off a serious ACL injury? Stay Tuned folks

Can we say the Nash experiment was a failure? He's a backup PG at this point and we gave up 2 #1st round picks and 2 2nd round picks also. At the time we all thought it was a solid move because we believed that would help us to entice Dwight to get here. And in the end both experiments blew up on us
Rumor: Lakers looking to make substantial trade

• One Eastern Conference executive told FOX Sports Ohio he’s heard from the Lakers recently, and word around the league is they may try to make a "substantial" trade before the regular season. Apparently, forward Pau Gasol remains far from untouchable.
• Many NBA talent-evaluators feel as if Steve Nash is no longer capable of playing at a high level for more than 15-20 minutes game. The Lakers, it is believed, are on the lookout for a younger point guard who's a more potent scorer. But as everyone who deals in the trade market will tell you, that won't be so easy to obtain.
Credit to Leeprettyp for posting this. I think this deserves its own thread.

The only PG I see us risking our cap space for is Rondo... And I'm also not sure he's worth the risk at this point... And I'm not sure we really know what we want in a PG right now... PGs seem to be very system-sensitive... Are we really committed to MDA for the future?
So unless Rondo is available, and the Celtics would take Pau for him... 2 things I just don't see... I doubt we trade Pau until draft picks are set.

I rather keep Nash if it means we're getting rondo

If this were a year ago pre-ACL injury then I would think we'd seriously consider it. But not after the injury

I just dont like the idea of moving a still Allstar Center in Pau Gasol at this point. Especially when we can entice him to take a paycut to stay after this season. Pau at 10mill a year after this season is perfect core piece

Yeah,I call that BS
No way we get rid of Pau for a PG right now,and not get a quality big in return
Who's gonna play in the frontcourt? Both Kaman and Hill are injury prone and we have no other viable options
For better or worse,we still have 2 backups for Nash in Farmar and Blake

I think PG with a propensity to score rules out Rondo? But yeah Ainge would jump all over that to clear cap space and restore the tank motion if we had a pick to spare.

I just wish Mike D and the F.O. both at some point soon are willing to try Jordan Farmar as the starting PG. The offense will run ALOT smoother with 3 wing players who can attack the basket off the pick n roll at any time. Mike D offense needs a facilitator who's a threat to score. And we'd be ALOT better on the defensive end

that would definitely be Ainge's angle in this. Lose a bunch of games clear out cap space once Pau expires and tank for Wiggins all in the same season

So what PG could we possibly get while dangling Pau Gasol that will offset the impact and value Pau has in our line up? The answer: nobody.

Technically, Meeks, Blake and Hill would cover Rondo's salary but we don't have any picks to offer. That's a great squad to tank with, the only way for it to happen is a three way trade with someone else giving the picks.

Impact this year vs future... If we trade Pau, we're trading this season for the future.
I wonder about John Wall? Solid FG%, decent APG for a scoring PG... No D and no range... But I think Pau could bring him.
Otherwise, I can't think of anyone but Rondo.

No way on Wall. he just inked an extension and the Wizards management rightly or wrongly do not want to tank and leveraged their entire future on him and Beal being good together. Pau will not get us Wall. A Ty Lawson kind of guy, may be but not Wall.

I forgot about the extension, you're probably right... But his value around the league seems low enough at this point...
I can't see us trading Pau for Lawson... Lawson's not old but he's reached his potential... Need a player of the future.
