Opening night has Gasol alongisde Shawne WIlliams, but I understand Kaman is sick. Who do you see as the starter in the long term this season? I ask because I do not follow the lakers too closely.

I'd like Chris Kaman, he's longer and in the preseason minutes he played with Gasol, they clicked well on offense and did a better than expected job of protecting the rim. The rebounding might take a hit with Shawne Williams parked on the 3 line.

I'd be shocked to see them start together because D'Antoni hates twin towers and would rather play a stretch four like Williams.

Pau needs a guy that he can pass too if he's passing out of the paint and Williams is that guy. Kaman and J Hill might work together with the second unit because Kaman covers up J Hill offense and J Hill covers up Kaman's defense. I think Kaman will be on the bench backing up Gasol/Williams.

Pau & Williams will start but Kaman will play some with both as well as Hill in the mix... Should be an interesting season...

If Sean Williams starts, you can give up any hope of winning games with the lack of rim protection. I don't mean this as a slight to Williams but its just not feasible to play a 1 in 4 out offense and cover up for Pau on defense without any kind of length. Pau even struggles to control the defensive glass on his own.

I don't understand why MDA doesn't like Jordan Hill. He puts up great rebounding numbers in short minutes, is a mobile defender who guards the pick and roll well, and has a good mid-range jumper. So frustrating watching inferior players like Williams starting over him just because he can shoot a **** 3. He isn't even that great of a shooter, a career 33% 3FG%. Sigh

If Pau and Kaman starts the pick and roll d alongside Nash out there if fn awful. Williams is necessary because those 3 can't be out there on pnr d at all together

Because Hill sucks at of, can't play 20mpg, is injury prone, and can't shoot. He sucked all preseason at pf. His good games came at C

honestly there is nothing wrong with giving up "hopes of winning many games" because the goal shouldn't be winning as many games possible, the max we can win is 45 and what's the point? Fight for 7th seed at best only to lose in round one going 5 games tops?
The more we lose the better, I know I sound like a fake fan rooting for them to lose, but i care about the future of this team and I think some of us on here has a deep secret desire to somehow land Wiggins.......I am sure someone in the FO is trying to convince that turning in this one year for a chance to get in on the Wiggins sweepstake is worth it. Sure Philly and Phx will be the contenders but I rather be in play for Wiggins because there is nothing joyous about 45 wins and lose 4-1 to the Clippers, OKC, Rockets or Warriors and picking 18-20 in the draft.

I think Playing them at the end of games or during important stretches when you need some "rim protection" would be good.
