To start, Nets and Knicks are rough as hell... With the amount of money they're chained too, it's going to be interesting to see what happens come Trade Deadline time...
I think both of them could go into full blowup mode. Maybe Pau's contract starts looking pretty good to those teams... Not that they have a whole lot that we'd sacrifice our cap room for. Melo maybe and Lopez maybe...

They play each other today and supposedly Woodson's job is on the line depending on the outcome of the game.

The funny thing is they can't even say **** it and tank for the season
Knicks give their pick to the Nuggets(Carmelo trade)
Nets give their pick to the Hawks-Hawks have the right to swap picks(Johnson trade)

That's what I mean... They're a hot mess and need to trade... But they can't take on salary, and I doubt there's a whole lot of teams that want what they're cooking...
The ONLY way they can tank it to trade for Picks and expirings.
And the Knicks need a lot more than a coaching change...

Since its the east, its too early to bury a team that's trying but that Joe Johnson trade might end up being the greatest heist of all time. Hawks not only got away from a crippling long contract for a above average player, they ended up with cap space to sign Millsap and they might end up with a solid pick in this draft. Imagine adding one of Randle, Parker, Wiggins, Smart or Embid to that core.

And the ridiculous thing is the Hawks can swap picks in 2015 too
So if the Nets do blow it off and start from scratch while presumably sucking in the process....the Hawks load up with lottery picks

Wow, did not realize the picks situation in NY. Was wondering why all the pressure to "win" now. Damn....
Oh, well, perhaps it'll create an actual playoff team out of the Hawks? Somebody needs a boost out there.

Yeah I agree with all this... I think both teams can make a run, but the panic meter has to be pegged... And as that trade deadline approaches, the only question to me, is which team pulls the trigger first. If Melo is in fact putting pressure on the Knicks that he will leave in FA for nothing, I think they almost HAVE to trade him to have any chance of improving the team this off season. Because even if Melo walks for nothing, they don't have much if any cap space to play with.

Its gonna be hard for the Knicks and Nets to both miss the playoffs in the East. Man its unreal how bad that conference is. This is the side-effect of the Rose injury and the superteam forming

That's tough for KG, he has to be thinking that he's finally reached a point in his career where Andrea Bargnani can trash talk him.

The mess those two free spending teams are in makes me value all the more the job Kupchak did this summer.
Was really a spectacular job.
