I miss the triangle...

I don't mind missing Phil.
But I miss the triangle, I really do

I miss the good interior passing, I miss the spacing and I miss how opponents had to study how to defend us because we ran an exotic offense

i miss it dearly
i loved seeing what variations we would execute, it was all invariably contextual. It doesn't hurt that it naturally contains pinch post options, which i've always found to be both effective and aesthetically pleasing.
I could go on and on extolling the virtues of the triangle, but I'd say it's best facet was that it empowered role players while still mostly being advantageous to the star (although Kobe and Jordan would often cull it's usage once it was crunch-time).

i can't help but imagine how nice it would look with the 3-4 wing players that we have that can now able to execute the triple threat position

http://www.basketball.org.nz/_r/uploads ... ffence.pdfCursory overview of the triangle, written by the man himself, the great Tex Winter.
I'm trying to find a specific pdf file that was more in-depth, but I'm having trouble right now. It really gets into the nuts and bolts of it, I had it on my old computer - twas a great read.
If I find it ill post it here.
My favourite triangle team were the recent repeating Lakers team, Kobe had basically grown up with the triangle so he had integrated many nuances that were atypical for most triple post offenses.

No. But it would have worked with Kobe, Pau, and Dwight. Dwight would still be here if Phil was coaching. Not that I love Dwight for not giving two sh*ts last year. But I think we would have gotten to the WCF or finals last year and lost. We would have traded Nash by now as well. Our roster would look completely different right now. But because we want to be the phoenix suns and all we care about is making money and being entertaining now that Dr. Buss is gone, we are screwed. Oh and Kobe would likely not have tore his Achilles because Phil would have played him 30-32 minutes and made sure Kobe didn't play as reckless as he did the last 5 games before getting injured.

There is a misconception regarding the triangle in terms of its perceived rigidity. It can complement many styles of play and positional strengths.
Ball dominant PGs can flourish in the triple post as the strong side triangle and pinch post can be modified into pick and roll actions. Kobe and Pau did this a lot.
Hell, we still run some pseudo pinch post with Kobe and Pau, the difference is that the weak-side triangle principles aren't there.

I've always pondered the thought of what if they'd signed Brian Shaw.. I occasionally play the old 2k games just to use it. Fcuk this dtoni offence is getting me fustrated.. With the shooters we currently have one can only imagine.

I miss it. Lamar/Kobe/Pau was a perfect fit for the triangle. Superb passers with high BBIQ who rarely make a wrong read.
I actually think last year it would've fit as well. Turning Nash into a spot-up shooter would've happened way before we dug ourselves into that big ass hole (and he'd have been the best we've ever had), post-play would've been encouraged to keep Dwight happy and Pau from standing around the 3pt line and Kobe wouldn't have had to play 38 mpg or launch 6 threes per game.
