Question about J. Hill

Post#1 » by Guzman_9 » Tue Dec 24, 2013 10:14 am

How much do you think Hill will command in the summer? Or what type of things would you look for if you were to trade him before Feb deadline?

Trade him ... He's probably looking at 8M for his size.

Lakers should give him what he wants. Jordan Hill is a rare breed: he does the dirty work that other players don't like to do and he's a good energy guy off the bench.

As wiz fan I kinda hope we make a run at this guy. I wouldn't mind him at a 7-9 million dollar a year range for 3-4 years.

You'd be paying for 40 minute production and getting 25 good minutes out of him to keep him durable. $7 mil is way too much for Hill when you have decent to good centers like Splitter going at around $9 - 10 mil.

his per 36 production is outstanding and he would really benefit IMO playing next to Nene and Wall, also Beal, Ariza and Webster have become elite floor spacers. The gamble is however, the durability thing, especially considering the money we have tied up with Nene. We actually get kind of similar production out of Trevor Booker, it is just that while he is an explosive player his mediocre standing reach makes it difficult for him to bother larger eastern conference 4s like Monroe and Horford. Truthfully I don't we pre-pared to trade either Porter or Ariza for him (Ariza is simply balling his mind out) otherwise we'd be interested in trade scenarios me thinks.

I do wonder, will the Lakers match a 7-8 mill contract when there are hopes that Love will come in two years? I can't help but think that Kobe's current contract limits which GOOD rotation players the lakers have found will be retain-able.

I don't think Lakers match anything more than 4 mil per for Hill.

This is how I would construct J-Hill contract. 3 years and a team option for a 4th. Reason being he's 26, 3 plus an option is perfect. For one it carries him to age 29 on the deal, secondly he's gotten injured seems like every year of his career. 3 yrs and about 13 million is fairly good for him. If he does well then we can extend the option to him.

Bottom line is we have to stop getting stuck with guys that can't contribute past 30
.
In this new NBA guys are breaking down earlier now than they did 20 years ago.

The minute someone gives Hill more than 4.5-5 ish mill, he will be closely treading the bad contract territory, especially if it's a "long-term" deal. If the big who is paired next to Hill can't space the floor, he becomes even less valuable as he is nearly incompetent past 8 feet. I don't know how many times this year he gets a smaller 4 put on him and refuses to back him down, settling for a longer 2 that he will never make.

I would rather trade him since I think he leaves for more money.

Hill is making 3.5 right now and he took a paycut to stay with us, I highly doubt he's not getting offers more than that this offseason.

I agree with Kblo, we should trade him now if we're not looking at re-signing him.

I imagine he'll get close to what Earl Clark got last summer. He's incredibly inconsistent and his production dips a lot when he plays more than 24 mins. Since he plays Pf/C I think 4-5mil a year is reasonable. With his inconsistency I'm thinking closer to 4.

Trade him for a 2nd rounder or 2 and then sell those.

I'd trade anyone on the roster for a first rounder, except X & Farmar and I'm pretty sure Mitch would too.

Maybe we can try to entice a team like OKC. Something like Hill for DFish ( ) + Ryan Gomes (or maybe one of their young guys that they're willing to give up) + 1st round pick

We got Hill for D-Fish and a 1st round pick and I'd be impressed if Mitch got the same back in return.

Hill is definitely worth a 1st rounder to a playoff team in need of a big. The problem is the timing and hype of this draft - I doubt anyone will pay it. Who knows, hopefully Mitch can work out something. We also have Kaman who can be moved, and would also be worth a 1st round pick to a playoff team.

I don't know if Kaman is worth a 1st round pick. But if we can get another first round pick this year we could package it with our own 1st round pick and move up in the draft. I'd settle for a first round pick in 2015 since we don't have one as we dealt it away to get Nash.
