Rozelle's equal? No. Rozelle launched the NFL past Major League Baseball. Rozelle swallowed and/or buried the leagues created to challenge the NFL. Rozelle made a game the overwhelming majority of people never play and don't understand part of Americana.
Stern gets credit for babysitting black kids and making them somewhat palatable to a small percentage of white corporate America.
The NBA has underachieved. In the past 30 years, the league has been home to the most transcendent, recognizable and interesting athletes since Muhammad Ali -- Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Tiger Woods and Mike Tyson are the only athletes who can compete with the quartet Stern was handed.
With the pervasive popularity of rap music and a black man sitting in the White House, there's no reason to pretend the NBA has been handicapped by the blackness of basketball. There's no reason to judge Stern on some sort of curve. He doesn't get extra credit points for running a league dominated by black players.

I gotta say he makes some good points about Stern but this article is flat out disrespectful. Is David Stern racist? I don't know. But he IS the reason the NBA is still alive. The man did a lot for the NBA.

I hit the wrong button. Didn't mean to and 1 you. He's racist because he brings up the race card?

God I hate Whitlock he is the sole reason I couldn't stand the show Sports Reports on ESPN. Every article he writes is either about race or some asinine troll piece. The fact that he is a sports reporter and continues to get jobs covering sports is an atrocity.

Do you know the definition of a racist? Larry bird said the NBA needs more white players, does that make him a racist?

Because if you did I don't think you would have used the word.

You wouldn't even have to show me who the article was written by for me to know who wrote it. This has Whitlock written all over. I remember I ended up unfollowing him on Twitter because of how annoying his rants got. He always has some type of bias and never seems open to any objections. The way he goes about what he says never comes off as professional to me.

Jason Whitlock was one guy who was brave enough to say on radio two weeks back that the Broncos would get humiliated in the Super Bowl.

He's surely writing for the wrong sport.
